 Region 1A - Watertown edges Tea Area for 1A wrestling title

Watertown captured the 1A wrestling title Saturday after racking up 256.5 points to slip past Tea Area (241.5) and Brookings (207). West Central (193.5) and Madison (92.5) rounded out the top five. 

The Arrows claimed five individual titles: Sloan Johannsen (113), Conner Hanson (126), Weston Everson (132), Mac Young (182) and Brock Eitram (195) were all region champions.

Brandon Valley had 10 individual champions and qualified all 14 of their wrestlers into next week’s state tournament with an impressive outing at the 2A championships. The Lynx racked up 311 points to outdistance Harrisburg (250.5) and Sioux Falls Lincoln (156). Vermillion (136) and Beresford/Alcester-Hudson rounded out the top-five. 

Region champions for Brandon Valley were: Trevor Oehme (106), Jesse Johnson (120), Jordan Oehme (126), Trason Oehme (132), Alex Mentzer (138), Gavin Chapman (145), Cayden Langenhorst (152), Lucas Slack (170), Damion Schunke (195) and Navarro Schunke (285).
