A big Tuesday night for Melissa Johnson's Platte-Geddes team as they defeated a good Wagner team 3-2 to remain undefeated. And yet, you look at the standings and those Black Panthers have some company.

1  Platte-Geddes 6 0 1.000

2  Avon 5 1 .833

2  Gregory 6 0 1.000

4  Tripp-Delmont/Armour 3 1 .750

5  Kimball/White Lake 2 1 .667

6  Burke 2 2 .500

7  Wessington Springs 4 2 .667

8  Colome 2 5 .286

9  Corsica-Stickney 2 6 .250

2. Avon is 5-1 on the season with their only loss coming to Platte-Geddes. A 3-0 sweep of No. 4 TDA suggests Avon is the real deal.

3. Teresa Webster's girls are 6-0 and coming off a SHIP at the Gregory Invitational. The girls have a stiff test, at Wagner on Thursday before playing 4-2 Wessington Springs on Saturday.

4. TDA was undefeated heading into Tuesday's matchup with Avon. The TDA girls have a stiff home test vs. KWL on Thursday

5. Kimball/White Lake: Coach Deffenbaugh's squad lost their season opener to Gregory (3-1). Since then they beat Ethan 3-2 and looked extremely impressive in a 3-0 sweep of Burke. Girls haven't played since that Thursday test against TDA and then a couple of real tests next week against undefeated Winner and MVP.

6. Burke: Not often you see Billie Jo Indahl's Burke team in 6th place but it is early and the Cougars are breaking in some young players. The Cougars lost 3-2 to Class A ranked Winner and then got thumped (3-0) by KWL.

7. Wessington Springs is 4-2 on the season. Only losses to Avon and Bridgewater/Emery, teams that have a combined 10-1 record. Big test @ Gregory on Thursday.

8. While Colome might be just 2-5 Kathy Hrabanek's squad looked great in a 3-0 sweep of Lyman on Tuesday.

9. Corscia/Stickney has some work to do but the girls won two-of-three matches in the last week.
