Sept. 2 Football Roundup - Lyman piles up 362 yards in win over Kadoka Area

Lyman 34, Kadoka Area 14

PRESHO — Lyman racked up 362 total yards en route to a high school football win over Kadoka Area on Friday 

Lyman’s Teagan Gourneau threw for 124 yards and three touchdowns to Cooper Long, who racked up 106 receiving yards. Gourneau added 92 rushing yards. Tance Wagner and Kellen Griffith had rushing touchdowns. Wagner has 78 rushing yards. 

Kadoka Area’s Garrett Herman threw for 45 passing yards. Reece Orhtman had 64 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

Wall 62, New Underwood 12 

WALL — Burk Blasius had a hand in six touchdowns to power Class 9AA No. 2 Wall to a high school football win over New Underwood. 

Blasius passed for 254 yards, four touchdowns, added a rushing touchdown and pick-six on defense. He had two interceptions on defense. Cedar Amiotte and Bridger Casjens added rushing touchdowns. Rylan McDonnell hauled in three catches for 106 yards and two touchdown receptions. Norman Livermont had five tackles and 2.5 sacks. 

New Underwood’s Cole Knuppe threw for 111 yards and a touchdown. Burke Beer had a rushing touchdown and a receiving touchdown. Cash Albers logged 3.5 tackles. 


Gregory 27, Platte-Geddes 6

PLATTE — Rylan Peck scored four total touchdowns to power Class 9A No. 2 Gregory to a Friday high school football win over Platte-Geddes. 

Peck finished 135 rushing yards on 17 carries and scored three rushing touchdowns. He added 74 passing yards and a touchdown. Owen Hansen added 130 rushing yards and caught a touchdown reception. Trey Murray logged 9.5 tackles and Luke Stukel had an interception. 

Platte-Geddes’ Dawson Hoffman threw for 80 yards, while Aiden Bultje logged 57 rushing yards and 52 receiving yards. Joey Foxley had a rushing touchdown. Bultje had 10.5 tackles and Hoffman intercepted two passes. 


Viborg-Hurley 20, Canistota 14

CANISTOTA — Viborg-Hurley held off Class 9A No. 1 Canistota for a high school football win on Friday.

VH’s Chance Schoellerman rushed for 107 yards and passed for 35 yards and one touchdown, while Luke Campbell rushed for 45 yards and one touchdown. Campbell also had one receiving touchdown. Jacob Graves had an 82-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.

Canistota’s Tage Ortman threw for 105 yards and one touchdown, while rushing for 29 yards and one score. Cayden Scott had one receiving touchdown. Noah Kleinsasser had 9.5 tackles, while Tye Merrill added an interception.


Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy 34, Avon 24

AVON — Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy held off Class 9B No. 2 Avon for a high school football win on Friday.

The Phoenix were led by Riley Tschetter with 159 yards passing and three touchdown passes. Maddox Kihne tallied 76 yards rushing and one touchdown, while also recording 62 yards receiving and one score. Evan Scharberg led with 88 yards receiving and one touchdown, while Matt Hagen added one touchdown catch. Defensively, Ethan Balvin had 9.5 tackles, while Dominic Sperling added 7.5 tackles. Kihne had two interceptions. 

Avon’s Cade Faulkner led with 78 rushing yards, while Landon Mudder totaled 67 rushing yards. Noah Watchorn, Paxton Bierema, and Jaden Stahl each had one rushing touchdown. Cody Soukup and Kley Heumiller had eight and seven tackles, respectively.

 

Howard 9, Kimball/White Lake 6

HOWARD --- Class 9AA No. 1 Howard escaped with a three-point win over Kimball/White Lake on Friday. 

Howard's Karsyn Feldhaus scored a seven-yard touchdown run in the first quarter for a 9-0 lead. Howard also recorded a safety in the first quarter on defense. Taiden Hoyer threw for 21 yard, while Karsten Hamilton had 79 rushing yards on 11 carries. Atticus Darnell had 21 receiving yards. Griffin Clubb finshed with seven tackles and one interception. 

KWL's Park Sinclair passed for 156 yards and threw a touchdown reception to Nathan Mohnen, who hauled in 72 receiving yards. Iden Myers rushed for 50 yards on nine carries. Jaxon Christensen had nine tackles and Myers had an interception on defense. 

 

Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan 18, Clark/Willow Lake 7

BRIDGEWATER — Class 11B No. 2 Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan edged Clark/Willow Lake in Friday high school football action. 

BEE’s Riley Endres finished with two rushing touchdowns, while Macklen Weber had a rushing touchdown. 


Corsica-Stickney 50, Oldham-Ramona/Rutland 16

RAMONA — Carter Wright scored three touchdowns to power Corsica-Stickney to a Friday high school football win over Oldham-Ramona/Rutland. 

Wright had 166 rushing yards on 14 carries and scored three touchdowns. Waylon Bolle finished with 116 rushing yards on 15 carries and scored two touchdowns. Shad Bosma had 72 passing yards and a touchdown. Wright logged 11 tackles, while Caleb Baumiller had nine tackles. 

ORR’s Shayne Devaney and Cooper Merager scored rushing touchdowns. Devaney rushed for 95 yards on 14 carries, while Merager had 81 rushing yards. Merager passed for 26 yards. Devaney had 6.5 tackles.


Hitchcock-Tulare 36, Iroquois/Lake Preston 6

HITCHCOCK — Class 9B No. 3 Hitchcock-Tulare raced past Iroquois/Lake Preston for a high school football win on Friday.

HT’s Carter Binger tallied 155 passing yards and three touchdowns, while Erik Salmen rushed for 98 yards. Blaze Binger and Riley Fliehe each had rushing touchdowns. Fliehe led with 94 receiving yards and one touchdown, while T.J. Salmen caught two touchdown passes and added four sacks. Landon Puffer and Brendan Nowell each had two interceptions.

Iroquois/Lake Preston’s Logan Peskey threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Josh McMasters.


Harding County/Bison 46, Faith 6

BUFFALO — Harding County/Bison racked up 483 total yards as the Ranchers flew past Faith for a high school football win on Friday.

HC/B was led by Rylee Veal with 224 yards rushing and three touchdowns, while Kelby Hett passed for 201 yards and two touchdowns. Gage Gilbert recorded 169 yards receiving and two touchdowns. Braden Routier added one touchdown run. Dawson Kautzman totaled eight tackles, while Evan Meyer had an interception.

Faith’s Jess Harper threw for 111 yards and one touchdown, along with one interception, while also rushing for 77 yards. Rylan Palmer added 96 yards receiving and one touchdown.


Alcester-Hudson 30, Burke 8

BURKE — Alcester-Hudson picked up a high school football win over Burke on Friday.

Alcester-Hudson’s Jose Lopez tallied 140 rushing yards and one touchdown. Mateo Kleinhans passed for 90 yards, while also adding 81 yards rushing and one score. Evan Brown added two touchdown runs. Brown also had 10 tackles on defense.

Burke’s Sawyer Tietgen rushed for 61 yards, while Karson Longe added 52 yards rushing and one touchdown. Jaden Swan tallied 10 tackles, one sack, and one forced fumble, while Reed Benter recorded nine tackles and Breven Bolander and Carson Peck added eight tackles apiece.


Elk Point-Jefferson 50, Sioux Valley 0

ELK POINT — Class 11B No. 3 piled up 454 total yards to cruise past Class 11B No. 4 Sioux Valley for a high school football win on Friday.

EPJ’s Ben Swatek led with 187 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns, while also adding one receiving touchdown. Lucas Hueser added 99 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Jacob Gale and Hunter Geary also added one touchdown run apiece. Noah McDermott passed for 92 yards.

Sioux Valley’s Lane Liebsch tallied eight tackles, while Boden Schiller, Brock Christopherson, and Donovan Rose each had six tackles. Sioux Valley had -10 yards of total offense.


Flandreau 8, Parker 2

PARKER — Flandreau outlasted Parker for a high school football win on Friday.

Flandreau’s Paul Parsley passed for 101 yards, while Lane Johanson rushed for 31 yards. Ethan Hoffman had 64 yards receiving. Johanson also had an interception for a touchdown for the Fliers lone score. Hoffman, Tison Burggraff, and Ben Ballard also had one interception each.

Parker’s Ray Travnicek threw for 96 yards, while Jack Even rushed for 62 yards. Logan Bridges had 58 yards receiving. Levi Wieman had 10.5 tackles.


Mount Vernon/Plankinton 50, Tripp-Delmont/Armour/Andes Central/Dakota Christian 0

MOUNT VERNON — Mount Vernon/Plankinton cruised past Tripp-Delmont/Armour/Andes Central/Dakota Christian for a high school football win on Friday.

MVP’s Drew Gerlach had 106 yards and three rushing touchdowns on nine carries, while Brady Fox added 80 yards and one rushing touchdown. Reed Rus, Christopher Mayer, and Austin Hauge each had one rushing touchdown as the Titans racked up 385 yards of total offense.

Hunter Loeffler rushed for 51 yards to lead TDA/AC/DC.


Herreid/Selby Area 60, Lemmon/McIntosh 6

HERREID — Class 9B No. 1 Herreid/Selby Area raced past Lemmon/McIntosh for a high school football win on Friday.

HSA’s Brenden Begeman scored three rushing touchdowns and added a receiving touchdown. Tray Hettick threw three touchdown passes, while Mason Vetter had a rushing touchdown and Trevor Gill returned a fumble recovery for a touchdown.

Lemmon/McIntosh’s Sawyer Thompson threw a touchdown pass to Trevor Ellingson.


Madison 41, Milbank 6

MILBANK — Class 11A No. 5 Madison pulled away from Milbank for a high school football win on Friday.

Madison’s Ben Brooks passed for 176 yards and one touchdown, while rushing for 127 yards and one score. Bruce Galde rushed for 61 yards and two touchdowns, while Carson Wolf had 124 yards receiving and one touchdown. Wolf also rushed for a score. Joe Gors also had one rushing touchdown.

Milbank’s Garrett Mertens passed for 53 yards and one touchdown to Eli Johnson. Aiden Foell tallied 128 yards rushing on 33 carries.


Britton-Hecla 52, Waverly-South Shore 14

BRITTON — Britton-Hecla used 476 yards of total offense to race past Waverly-South Shore in a high school football game on Friday.

Britton-Hecla’s BoDell Davidson passed for 235 yards and three touchdowns, while rushing for 144 yards and three touchdowns. Davidson also recovered a fumble for a touchdown on defense. Daniel Person also had a rushing touchdown.

WSS’s Troy Kneeland passed for 160 yards and two touchdowns. Zach Ries and Cody Thompson each had receiving touchdowns, while Thompson recorded 15.5 tackles on defense.
