Sept. 5 Volleyball Roundup - Bennett County edges Jones County in five-set match

Bennett County 3, Jones County 2

MURDO — Bennett County outlasted Jones County in a five-set high school volleyball match on Thursday. The set scores were 15-25, 25-17, 22-25, 25-16 and 18-16.


Redfield 3, Deuel 0

REDFIELD — Redfield swept Deuel in Thursday high school volleyball action. The set scores were 25-12, 25-12 and 25-22.

Redfield’s Cecilia Suchor and Charli Jungwirth posted seven kills apiece. Jungwirth and Kinley Smith had seven digs apiece. Hayden Gall finished with 12 assists and one ace. Smith had three blocks. Brynn Giblin had three aces.

For Deuel, Emma Sattler recorded four kills. Kayden Russell logged two kills, six assists and 10 digs. Addison Timmons finished with two aces and 16 digs. 

 

Hitchcock-Tulare 3, James Valley Christian 0

HITCHCOCK — Class B No. 5 Hitchcock-Tulare earned a straight set victory over James Valley Christian during Thursday’s volleyball action. The set scores were 25-6, 25-6, and 25-3.

Katelyn Schroeder led the offense with 14 kills, Lila Johnson had seven assists and eight aces, Gracyn had six assists, while Ella Johnson tallied 11 aces in the win.

James Valley Christian’s Kaitlyn Stahl tallied one ace and one assist. Addison Kleinsasser tallied one kill, while Nave Gross had one ace as well.


Miller 3, Sully Buttes 0

MILLER — Class A No. 3 Miller swept Sully Buttes in volleyball action Thursday. The set scores were 25-14, 25-11 and  25-10. 

Olivia Resel paced Miller with four aces and 25 assists. Paige Werdel dropped two aces and  had seven kills while Aleah Schlechter finished with seven kills and five digs. Kate Lichty had an ace, five kills and four digs.

Stats for Sully Buttes were not reported. 

 

Castlewood 3, Deubrook Area 1

DEUBROOK— Castlewood picked up a four-set road win over Deubrook Area Thursday. The set scores were 25-23, 26-24, 24-26 and 25-22.

Emerson Carter paced the Warriors with 23 kills. Cassidy Kirwan had eight kills and four aces. Nora Solberg had two aces. 

Zoey Molengraaf paced Deubrook Area with 14 aces and three blocks. Mattie Bauman had 10 kills and Matte Bauman had 33 assists.


Centerville 3, Corsica-Stickney 1

CENTERVILLE — Centerville picked up a four-set high school volleyball match win over Corsica-Stickney on Thursday.

Centerville’s Althea Gust logged 12 kills and five digs. Emma Marshall added 12 kills and three digs. Lillee Shearer had four kills and three digs. Keira Austin had 30 assists and three digs. Addison Buckneberg added three kills, three blocks and two digs. 

For Corsica-Stickney, Braylee Bordewyk had 13 kills, 11 assists, three aces and one block. Sophie DeLange added 12 kills, 14 digs and three aces. Cali VandenHoek had 21 digs. Macayla Gerlach posted six kills, 15 assists and three aces. Hadynn Johnson posted two kills and 13 assists. Paige Timmermans and Remi Nelson had seven digs apiece. 


Highmore-Harrold 3, Lower Brule 0

HIGHMORE — Highmore-Harrold swept Lower Brule in Thursday high school volleyball action. The set scores were 25-22, 25-16 and 25-21.

Highmore-Harrold’s Addison McDonnell posted 11 kills and four aces, while Jada Baloun posted five kills and two blocks. Brooklyn Baloun had 17 assists and four digs. Morgan McCloud posted four digs. 

Lower Brule stats were not reported. 


Winner 3, Valentine, Neb., 0

WINNER — Winner swept Valentine, Nebraska in Thursday high school volleyball action. The set scores were 25-8, 25-19 and 25-16.

Cora Moss continued her steady play with four aces and 10 digs. Keeli Kuil had seven kills, two blocks and two digs. Gracie Root distributed 28 assists and also had seven digs. 

Danika Jassen led Valentine with three aces, seven kills and a dig. Annalena Nelson had two aces and Kimber McGinley finished with 16 assists. 

 

 

West Central 3, Madison 2

HARTFORD — West Central outlasted Madison in a five-set high school volleyball match on Thursday. The set scores were 26-24, 19-25, 16-25, 25-17 and 15-12.

West Central’s Cambree Ideker finished with eight kills, 15 assists and 12 digs. Madi Ingalls posted eight kills, 13 assists and seven digs. Ella Haiden had eight kills and two blocks. Dawson Garry posted eight kills. Avery Nothdurft had 16 digs and three assists. 

Madison stats were not reported.

 

Clark/Willow Lake 3, Milbank 1

MILBANK — Clark/Willow Lake defeated Milbank in a four-set high school volleyball match on Thursday. The set scores were 23-25, 25-15, 25-19 and 25-23.

CWL’s Shay Michalski posted 20 kills, while Zoe Nichols had nine kills. Kate Larson had 28 digs and Zoey Helkenn had 13 digs. Hannah Heiman posted three aces and Avery Lee logged two aces.

For Milbank, Claire Snaza posted 10 kills. Isabella Anderson added six kills, while Sierra Wenzl posted five kills and 17 digs. Ella Sandvig had four aces and 17 digs.

Hamlin 3, Flandreau 0

HAYTI — Hamlin swept Flandreau in Thursday high school volleyball action. The set scores were 25-6, 25-17 and 25-11.

Hamlin’s Addison Neuendorf recorded 14 kills and nine digs. Addie Steffensen had 10 kills, while Jo Steffensen finished with three aces, eight kills and 14 digs. Issie Steffensen posted 21 assists and three aces. Jayci Trowbridge had 12 digs and Kayde Nebel had two blocks.

For Flandreau, Sadie Iott recorded five kills and 15 digs. Aly Schepel had seven assists. Morgan Kontz posted 10 digs, while Hannah Krull had a block. 


Colman-Egan 3, De Smet 1

COLMAN — Colman-Egan topped De Smet in a four-set high school volleyball match on Thursday. The set scores were 14-25, 29-27, 25-14 and 25-20.

Colman-Egan’s Brynlee Landis finished with 16 kills and two aces. Elaina Rhode posted 11 kills and four aces. Finley Luze posted 18 assists, 16 digs and two aces. Anna Zwart posted five kills and two blocks. Kaylee Voelker had 16 assists, seven digs and two blocks. Micheon Williamson added three blocks. Presley Luze posted 15 digs, four assists and three aces. 

For De Smet, Hazel Luethmers posted 21 kills, 13 digs, six blocks and one ace. Mirra Beck finished with eight kills, nine digs, two blocks and three aces. Megan Dylla had 28 assists and 16 digs. Brooke Jennings and Ivey Schoenfelder had four kills apiece. 


Northwestern 3, Langford Area 0

LANGFORD — Class B No. 3 Northwestern swept Langford Area in Thursday high school volleyball action. The set scores were 25-5, 25-11 and 25-3.

Northwestern’s Ashley Haven finished with 10 kills, while Anna Blachford and Taylor Vetter posted seven kills apiece. Breelyn Satter had six kills. Ella Boekelheide posted 23 assists and four aces. Mikaela Schmitt had three aces. Payton Grandpre posted three aces and six digs. Blachford had 10 digs and two aces. Grandpre, Satter, Haven and Adriana Ratigan each had blocks.

Langford Area stats were not reported. 

 

Dakota Valley 3, Elk Point-Jefferson 0

NORTH SIOUX CITY — Dakota Valley earned a straight set victory over Elk Point-Jefferson during Thursday’s volleyball action. The set scores were 25-16, 25-21, and 25-23.

Dakota Valley’s Claire Munch had 13 kills and 13 digs, Maddie Munch tallied 32 assists and four blocks, Sammy Kimball had seven kills and eight digs, Reagan Granstrom tallied 13 digs and three assists. Jacee Squire tallied 10 digs, while Aubrey Worden had five kills, five blocks, and three digs in the win.

EPJ’s Courtney Brewer had 31 assists and eight digs, Bentlee Kollbaum tallied 14 assists and nine digs, Cera Schmitz had 19 digs, while Kaitlyn VanRoekel had 17 digs in the loss.


Harrisburg 3, Tea Area 0 

HARRISBURG — Class AA No. 1 Harrisburg swept Tea Area in Thursday high school volleyball action. The set scores were 25-8, 25-14 and 25-11.

Harrisburg’s Bergen Stiff finished with eight kills and two blocks. Gabi Zachariesen and Kya Keegan had six kills apiece. Maggie Meister and Josalyn Samuels had 14 and seven digs, respectively. Samuels had 23 assists and three aces. Zachariesen and Ember Semmler had three aces apiece.

For Tea Area, Anaya Connors recorded nine kills. Remington Bechard had an ace.
