Seven South Dakotans sign to play football at University of Sioux Falls

The University of Sioux Falls football signed 34 student-athletes on national signing day, including seven from South Dakota. 

The seven South Dakota include: Mason Payne (Jefferson), Victor Hernandez (Jefferson), Myles Meyer (Parker), Jacob Jongejeugd (Tea Area), Nolan Vandel (O’Gorman), Donovan Rose (Volga) and Austin Miller (Jefferson).

Victor Hernandez is staying local and joining the Cougars offensive line. He was a standout lineman for the Cavaliers. 

Jake Jongejeugd is staying local while joining the Cougars in the fall following an impressive career with the Titans of Tea Area. Jongejeugd is a two-time all-state and all-conference selection while also earning academic all-state honors. 

Austin Miller joins USF from Colton, South Dakota where he played football for the Cavaliers of Jefferson High School. Miller recorded 39 tackles, eight tackles for loss and four sacks during his senior season while two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.

Mason Payne joins the Cougars as another local lineman from Jefferson High School.

Donovan Rose comes to USF from Volga where he competed in football, basketball, track and rodeo for the Cossacks. Throughout his career, Rose accumulated 4,669 all-purpose yards with 54 total touchdowns. Defensively, Rose recorded 120 career tackles for the Cossacks. Rose is a three-time all-state, all-conference and Big East athlete on the gridiron and is also a three-time state placer in track and four-time high school rodeo finalist.

Nolan Vandel joins The Coo as another local standout from O’Gorman High School.

Myles Meyer comes to Sioux Falls from just down the road where he competed in football, basketball, baseball and track for the Pheasants of Parker High School. Meyer was a three-year starter for the Pheasants.
