Shay Kraft paces Timber Lake girls to region title with four first-place finishes

TIMBER LAKE — Timber Lake swept the team titles at Friday’s Region 8B track and field meet. 

The Timber Lake girls racked up 176 points, finishing ahead of Newell (158) and Lemmon (125). 

The Timber Lake boys posted more than 200 points to earn the region title. 

Timber Lake’s Shay Kraft claimed first-place finishes in the 100-meter dash (:12.86), 200-meter dash (:27.30) and 400-meter dash (1:02.46). She also anchored Timber Lake’s winning 800-meter relay (1:53.70). 

Timber Lake’s Jasmine Nash was a double winner in the shot put (36-10) and discus (106-3). 

Newell’s Rachel Erk won the long jump (15-11), while she took second in the 100-meter dash (:13.09), 200-meter dash (:27.88)and 400-meter dash (1:04.41).

Harding County’s Jozi Schuchard won the 100-meter hurdles (:16.55) and placed second in the 300-meter hurdles (:51.84).  

The Lemmon girls won the 400-meter relay (:55.16), 1,600-meter relay (4:25.04), 3,200-meter relay (11:15.08) and sprint medley relay (4:38.95). 

On the boys side, Timber Lake’s Gracen Hansen won the triple jump (40-6) and placed second in the 300-meter hurdles (:41.03). 

Harding County’s Jarett Schuchard captured first-place finishes in the 110-meter hurdles (:16.15) and 300-meter hurdles (:41.00).
