RAPID CITY — Sioux Falls Christian and St. Thomas More have separated themselves from the pack after Day 1 of the Class A state girls tennis tournament.  

Sioux Falls Christian, which won last year’s state championship, and St. Thomas More both totaled 320 points after Day 1 of the tourney. Rapid City Christian (238), Huron (232) and Vermillion (226) round out the top-five teams. 

In singles action, Sioux Falls Christian and St. Thomas More have multiple players in the championship semifinal matches. 


Sioux Falls Christian’s Anna Westenberg (Flight 1), Mackenzie Boyle (Flight 2), Kasey Lemstra (Flight 3), Eisley Roark (Flight 4) and Sophia Heynen (Flight 5) are into the championship semifinals. 

St. Thomas More’s Athena Franciliso (Flight 1), Shriya Gangineni (Flight 2), Amity Strand (Flight 3), Evie Reinicke (Flight 4) and Elliya Strand (Flight 5) have qualified for the championship semifinal matches. 

In doubles action, Sioux Falls Christian and St. Thomas More’s Flight 1 teams will play in the championship finals on Tuesday. 

Sioux Falls Christian’s Flight 2 doubles team and St. Thomas More’s Flight 3 doubles team are both in Tuesday’s championship finals matches.
