RAPID CITY -- The Chargers hoisted another trophy on Saturday.

Sioux Falls Christian buttoned up another dominant season with their fifth consecutive Class A state volleyball title at the Summit Arena.

The Chargers swept Garretson in straight sets, winning 25-15, 25-15 and 25-15. Sioux Falls Christian (35-4) has now won 10th state volleyball championships.

“I think every title is different,” Sioux Falls Christian senior Katie VanEgdom said. “It’s just special for each team. So we are just really proud.”

On Saturday, the Chargers swept the Blue Dragons (29-2) in convincing fashion to cap off another title season.

“It’s so, so special,” VanEgdom added. “We’ve been working for this all season. So for it to come true, we are so happy.”

VanEgdom put down 20 kills, nine digs and two blocks. Sydney Tims added seven kills and six digs, while Addisen Barber logged 36 assists. The Chargers logged 40 kills compared to Garretson’s 24.

The Chargers went undefeated against South Dakota teams this season, with their losses coming against Iowa schools. Sioux Falls Christian finished the season on a 18-match winning streak.

“‘We’ve been working toward it all season and we always just want to play our best volleyball,” VanEgdom said. “I think we’ve done that today. So we are super proud.”

VanEgdom, who will play volleyball next season at South Dakota State University, is one of four seniors for the Chargers. Sioux Falls Christian will also graduate Tims, Emma Korn and Kylah vanDonkersgoed.

What's VanEgdom 's favorite part about playing volleyball for the Chargers?

“I think just the team atmosphere,” she said. “I have been so close with every team I’'ve been on and it’s made me a better person.”

Garretson’s Logan Bly finished with eight kills, eight digs and 19 assists. The Blue Dragons were making their first-ever state championship berth.
