SIOUX FALLS — Sioux Falls Christian continued its Class A reign on Saturday.

The Chargers captured their sixth consecutive Class A state volleyball championship, knocking off Elkton-Lake Benton in four sets at Denny Sanford Premier Center. The set scores were 25-14, 25-20, 23-25 and 25-13.

Sioux Falls Christian (33-5) has now won 11 of the past 13 Class A state championships and has qualified for every state tournament since 2007. 

In the championship match, Sioux Falls Christian racked up 68 kills and posted 96 digs en route to another title. Ellie Lems logged 31 kills and seven digs, while Sidney Oostra added 14 kills and 16 digs. Taylor Byl added 12 kills and Addisen Barber dished out 63 assists. 

ELB’s Rachael Krog and Andrea Renkly had 10 kills apiece. Krog had 17 digs and Kailyn Drietz added 15 digs. Tevan Erickson dished out 29 assists. 

It was Elkton-Lake Benton’s first-ever appearance in a state volleyball championship match.
