Sioux Falls Christian girls, Harrisburg boys perform well at Mount Marty Class A indoor invitational

YANKTON — If Friday’s Mount Marty Class A, indoor track meet is any indication, South Dakota track fans should be treated to fast times, particularly in the girls distance events. 

Sioux Falls Christian junior Ellie Maddox won the 1,600-meter run (5:00.70). 

The Chargers won the 800-meter relay (1:49.55), the 1,600-meter relay (4:06.29), the 3,200-meter relay (9:55.37). The quartet of Natalie Smith, Nealie Stanford, Jerica Glasser and Bailey VanderGriend) won the rarely contested distance medley relay (12:51.78). 

Hallie Braun also won the 60-meter hurdles (:9.77). 

Harrisburg seventh grader Brianna Reilly won the 800-meter run (2:20.68) and Sioux Falls O’Gorman’s Libby Castelli won the 3,200-meter run (10:36.40). 

The Harrisburg boys had a solid day on the track and in a wide array of events. 

Harrisburg’s Jase Thiesse won the 60-meter dash (:6.96). Thiesse, along with teammates Jagger Lombard, Bradley Esser and Josiah Heinz won the 800-meter relay. Harrisburg’s 3,200-meter relay team of Griffin Smith, Evan Johnson, Greyson Cauwels and Easton Klatt won the event (8:25.01).

Harrisburg’s Nick Tucker won the pole vault (14-01) and TIger junior Daniel OConner was the top South Dakota finisher in the long jump (21-10.75).

The Sioux Falls Christian boys had a number of top performers with Jackson Prins winning the 1,600-meter run (4:35.17). The Charger foursome of Isaac Koole, Levi VanderHaar, Jackson Prins and Josh Fletcher were the top South Dakota finishers in the distance medley relay. 

Sioux Falls Christian senior Paul Hoekman won the shot put (63-00).
