Sioux Falls Christian sweeps Class A state team titles

SIOUX FALLS — The Sioux Falls Christian Chargers swept the Class A girls and boys team titles.

The girls scored 178 points for its fifth-consecutive team title, ahead of Lennox (100) and Dakota Valley (58.83). The SFC boys totaled 110 points over the weekend to capture its sixth-straight team title, ahead of Lennox (78.5) and Hill City (64). 

On the girls’ side, Halle Braun broke a meet record to win the 100-meter hurdles (:14.41) while winning the All-Class gold medal in the 300-meter hurdles (:43.22). Braun also won the 200-meter dash (:24.23), winning the All-Class gold medal as well.

Ellie Maddox broke a meet record in the 1,600-meter run (4:53.37) to claim 10 team points for the Chargers.

Alexis McEntee (:12.57) and Arianna Farris (:12.67) combined for six team points finishing in fourth and eighth in the 100-meter dash, respectively.

Farris took second in the long jump (17-08.25) for eight team points.

McEntee, Autumn Aukes, Sydney Schaap and Emory Lems won the 400-meter relay (:49.53), while McEntee, Farris, Aukes and Lems won the 800-meter relay (1:43.82) for 20 total team points.

Lems, Natalie Smith, Maddox and Braun captured the 1,600-meter relay (4:00.07) as well.

Sioux Falls Christian’s Tate Connell, Tate Gadbois, Roan DeJong and Aiden Buys scored three points with a sixth-place finish in the 800-meter relay. The quarter also took fourth place in the 400-meter relay (:43.93) as well.

Levi Vander Leest took second in the 1,600-meter run (4:24.82) while Sawyer Pettengill finished in eighth place (4:30.26) to add nine team points.

Brant Wassenaar earned sixth place in the 400-meter dash (:50.76) for three team points.

Austin Bosman took eighth place in the 300-meter hurdles (:44.29).

Buys, Brice Wassenaar, Vander Leest and Brant Wassenaar won the 1,600-meter relay (3:23.49) to earn 10 team points for the Chargers.
