Sioux Falls Christian teams sit atop Class A state track and field team standings after Day 2

SIOUX FALLS — The Sioux Falls Christian track and field teams lead both team standings heading into the final day of the 2026 state track and field meet.

The Sioux Falls Christian boys have built a commanding lead following Day 2 with 63 points, ahead of Lennox (31.5) and Hill City (29). The Sioux Falls Christian girls are up to 81 points for the meet, ahead of Lennox (41) and Custer (36).

Sioux Falls Christian’s Simon Roelofs earned fifth place in the 3,200-meter run (9:46.86) to add four points, while Sawyer Pettengill (9:51.09) and Wesley Lyon (9:51.12) took seventh and eighth place, respectively to total three more points in the 3,200-meter run.

SFC’s Levi VanderLeest took second in the 800-meter run (1:55.96) for eight team points while Brice Wassenaar finished in fifth place (1:58.36) for an additional four points.

Maddox Johnson took fifth place in the triple jump (42-0.50) while Jason Koenes also finished fifth in the pole vault (12-09) for four points apiece as well.

SFC’s Ellie Maddox powered the girls’ team scoring on Day 2 with 20 points on two meet records, winning both the 3,200-meter (10:29.33) and the 800-meter run (2:12.53).

Sadie Pettengill took third place in the 3,200-meter run (11:01.17) and second in the 800-meter run (2:13.90) to add 14 team points.

Bailey VanderGriend came in fourth in the 3,200-meter run (11:01.17) for the Chargers as well.

Natalie Smith took seventh place in the 800-meter run (2:17.03) to score two points, while Katie Humpal collected six team points with a third-place finish in the triple jump (36-00.75).
