SIOUX FALLS — In Class AA, the Brandon Valley girls cruised and the Sioux Falls Lincoln boys rallied for state championships. 

The Sioux Falls Lincoln boys were trailing by five points leading into the 1,600-meter relay, the last event of the day. Rapid City Stevens was leading by a 99-94 margin going into the final event. 

But Sioux Falls Lincoln placed second in the 1,600-meter relay in 3:21.16, earning eight points to finish with 102 points. Rapid City Stevens, meanwhile, scored one point with an eighth-place finish and scored 100 points. 

The Patriots scored in all but six events to power the state championship. Lincoln’s best event was the 100-meter dash, where it racked up 16 points. 

It was Lincoln’s first state championship since 2021. 

On the girls side, Brandon Valley racked up 139 points, finishing well ahead of second-place Spearfish (97.5).  

Brandon Valley scored in all but five events, including 16 points in the 800-meter run. The Lynx scored 10 or more points in 11 events.
