Sioux Falls Lincoln holds Day 1 lead at Class AA state tennis

RAPID CITY — Sioux Falls Lincoln holds a 12-point lead after Day 1 of Thursday’s Class AA boys state tennis tournament. 

The Patriots racked up 390 points, followed by Sioux Falls Washington (378) and Sioux Falls O’Gorman (312). 

Sioux Falls Lincoln’s Gage Gohl (Flight No. 1), Rocky McKenzie (Flight No. 2), Drew Gohl (Flight No. 3), River McKenzie (Flight No. 4), Arthur Tao (Flight No. 5) and Christopher Tao (Flight No. 6) have all advanced to Friday’s championship matches.

Gage Gohl will face Sioux Falls Washington’s Clayton Poppenga in the No. 1 singles championship match. 

Rocky McKenzie faces Sioux Falls Washington’s Davis Shafer in the No. 2 singles title match. 

Drew Gohl will go against Sioux Falls Washington’s Noah Morgans in Friday’s No. 3 singles championship match.

River McKenzie faces Sioux Falls Washington’s Chase Rima in Friday’s No. 4 singles title match.

In the No. 5 singles championship match, Arthur Tao faces Sioux Falls O’Gorman’s Will Koziara in the. 

Christopher Tao faces Sioux Falls Washington’s Harold Mayer in Friday’s No. 6 singles championship match. 

Sioux Falls Lincoln and Sioux Falls Washington advanced all three of their doubles teams to Friday’s championship semifinals.
