Sioux Valley's Bloker, Tri-State's Foltz capture individual titles at Deuel Invite

CLEAR LAKE — Sioux Valley’s Isabelle Bloker and Tri-State’s Kaleb Foltz won the individual awards at the Deuel Invitational on Monday at Clear Lake Golf Club.

Bloker won the girls race with a time of 18:17.49, ahead of Great Plains Lutheran’s Halle Bauer (18:42.11) and Deuel’s Jaycee Hourigan (19:42.82), who placed second and third, respectively. Waubay/Summit’s Madison Zirbel (19:57.13) and Arlington’s Kaelyn Ulschmid (20:36.55) rounded out the top five.

Sioux Valley also took home the team title with a score of 27, four points ahead of Clark/Willow Lake (31). Arlington (35) and Great Plains Lutheran (49) placed third and fourth, respectively.

On the boys side, Tri-State’s Kaleb Foltz won individual honors with a time of 16:09.83. Deuel’s Ricky Berndt took second place with a time of 16:45.18, while Arlington’s Evan Fonseca (18:23.44) finished third. Deubrook Area’s Landen Johnson (18:28.29) and Iroquois/Lake Preston’s Tobias Arbeiter (18:31.52) rounded out the top five.

Arlington won the team title with a score of 20, while Tri-State scored a total of 33 points for second place. Deuel (37) and Great Plains Lutheran (49) placed third and fourth, respectively.

 

Gronewold, Larson win individual titles at Dell Rapids Invite

DELL RAPIDS — Baltic’s John Gronewold and Chester Area’s Emery Larson captured individual honors at the Dell Rapids Invite on Monday.

On the boys side, Gronewold captured the title with a time of 18:17.20, ahead of Sioux Falls Christian’s Jackson Prins (18:36.48) at Rocky Run Golf Course. Tea Area’s Jack Campbell finished third with a time of 18:52.83, while Sioux Falls Christian’s Levi Davelaar finished fourth with a time of 19:04.59. Baltic’s Alex Langner rounded out the top five with a time of 19:07.49.

Sioux Falls Christian won the team title with a score of 21, while Baltic (31) and Tea Area (33) finished second and third, respectively.

On the girls side, Larson won the individual title with a time of 19:26.19, while Tea Area’s Grace Bialas was second with a time of 20:35.09. Tea Area’s Jacie Babb finished third with a time of 20:36.25, while Sioux Falls Christian’s Sadie Pettengill (21:41.12) and Dell Rapids’ Adisen Stadem (21:44.39) rounded out the top five.

Tea Area captured the girls team title with a score of 30, while West Central (31) and Dell Rapids (44) finished second and third. Dell Rapids St. Mary (62) and Baltic (70) rounded out the top five. 


Vermillion sweeps Alcester-Hudson Invitational 

ALCESTER — The Vermillion cross-country teams swept team titles at Monday’s Alcester-Hudson Invitational.

The Vermillion boys finished with six points and had the top-six runners in the 5,000-meter race. Elk Point-Jefferson (30) and Akron-Westfield, Iowa (35) finished second and third, respectively.

Individually, Joel Dahloff won the race in 17 minutes and :18.82 seconds at Alcester Golf Course. Vermillion’s Henry Anderson (18:03.88) and Jacob Chasing Hawk (18:40.19) placed second and third, respectively. Vermillion’s Hunter Morse (19:11.04) and Emery Bohnsack (19:29.85) rounded out the top-five runners. 

On the girls side, Taeli Barta (21:13.12) claimed the 5,000-meter race pace the team title. Vermillion’s Lydia Anderson (22:01.25) and EPJ’s Ashley Stark (22:55.14) finished second and third, respectively. Canton’s Jayla York (23:20.97) and Olivia Formisano (24:08.36) rounded out the top-five finishers. The Vermillion girls ended up with seven points, finishing ahead of Canton (14) and Alcester-Hudson (31).
