South Dakotans set to compete at College National Finals Rodeo in Wyoming

CASPER, Wyo. — The 2025 College National Finals Rodeo is June 15-21 at the Ford Wyoming Center. 

The rodeo draws college rodeo athletes across the country, with a total of more than 400 cowboys and cowgirls coming from the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association’s 11 regions across the country.

The National Intercollege Rodeo Association has announced the position draws for each event, and a number of South Dakotans will be competing at the rodeo. 

Here’s a rundown of the South Dakotans competing in the rodeo: 

  • Woonsocket’s Tierney Breen, goat tying and breakaway roping, Mitchell Technical College: Breen will compete in breakaway roping during performances on Sunday, Monday and Friday. She will compete in goat tying on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. 
  • Isabel’s Rope Roghair, saddle bronc riding, Miles Community College: Roghair will compete in the saddle bronc riding on Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday. 
  • Colman’s Josie Mousel, goat tying, University of Wyoming: Mousel is competing in the goat tying on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.  
  • Sturgis’ Landry Haugen, breakaway roping and goat tying, University of Wyoming: Haugen is competing in the breakaway roping on Sunday, Tuesday and Friday. She will compete in the goat tying on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. 
  • Sturgis’ Bodie Mattson, team roping, University of Wyoming: Mattson is participating in the team roping on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. 
  • Faith’s Jess Harper, team roping, Black Hills State University: Harper is competing in the team roping on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. 
  • Harrold’s Haley Husted, goat tying, Black Hills State University: Husted will compete in the goat tying on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.  
  • Wessington Springs' Raylee Fagerhaug, goat tying, Black Hills State University: Fagerhaug competes in the goat tying on Monday, Tuesday and Friday. 
  • Quinn’s Malcom Heathershaw, saddle bronc riding, Casper Community College: Heathershaw competes in the saddle bronc riding on Sunday, Monday and Wednesday. 
  • Hereford’s Eastan West, saddle bronc riding, Casper Community College: West competes in the saddle bronc riding on Sunday and twice on Tuesday. 
  • Martin’s Jade Byrne, team roping, Casper Community College: Byrne competes in the team roping on Monday, Tuesday and Friday. 
  • Belle Fourche’s Lan Fuhrer, team roping, South Dakota State University: Fuhrer competes in the team roping on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. 
  • Howes’ Tayson Jones, saddle bronc riding, Dickinson State University: Jones competes in the saddle bronc riding on Sunday and twice on Tuesday. 
  • Howes' Jaysee Jones, goat tying, Dickinson State University: Jones competes in the goat tying on Monday, Tuesday and Friday. 
  • Timber Lake’s Maci Maher, goat tying, Dickinson State University: Maher competes in the goat tying on Monday, Tuesday and Friday.
  • Salem’s Michaela Jo McCormick, breakaway roping and goat tying, Montana State University: McCormick competes in the breakaway roping on Sunday, Monday and Friday. She will participate in the goat tying on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. 
  • New Underwood’s Cooper Filipek, breakaway riding, Gillette College: Filipek will compete in the bareback riding on Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday. 
  • Spearfish’s Brynlee Grubb, barrel racing, Gillette College: Grubb will compete in the barrel racing on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. 
  • Kadoka’s Dalton Porch, tie-down roping, Gillette College: Porch will compete in the tie-down roping on Monday and twice on Tuesday.
  • Dupree’s Shantell Brewer, barrel racing, Montana State University: Brewer will compete in the barrel racing on Monday and twice on Tuesday.
