Spearfish girls hold off Custer to win Region 4 girls wrestling tournament

RAPID CITY — The Spearfish girls qualified five wrestlers for next week’s state tournament and won Saturday’s Region 4 tournament in Rapid City. 

Spearfish scored 137 points, ahead of Custer (126) and Lakota Tech (112). Sturgis (109) and Hot Springs (108) rounded out the top five teams. 

Runner up Custer finished with two champions as Tiara Faehnrich (138) and Jessica Hite (185) won region titles. 

Lakota Tech athletes Lakota Rogers (114) and Sandra Moves Camp (145) won region titles for the Tatanka. 

Hot Springs had a pair of champions in Katie Snyder (152) and Madison Nicolaisen (235) each won titles. 

Rapid City Central also had a pair of champions as Anna Henstein (120) and Langston Huffman (126) won region championships.

Other region titles were claimed by Belle Fourche’s Kyra Vandenberg (100), Sturgis’ Annalee Pierson (107), Quinn Butler (132) and Rapid City Stevens’ Marieda Kalahar (165).
