St. Thomas More claims Region 4A girls golf title

BELLE FOURCHE — St. Thomas More, which had the top-four finishers, won Thursday’s Region 4A girls golf tournament at the Belle Fourche Country Club. 

The Cavaliers shot a 306, finishing ahead of Rapid City Christian (391) and Belle Fourche (398). STM, RCC and Belle Fourche all qualified for the Class A girls golf tournament as teams.

Individually, STM’s Rylan Horning (-1) was the individual medalist. Horning shot a 35 on the front nine and a 36 on the back nine, totaling four birdies on the day. 

STM’s Kaitlin Strain (+1) placed second for the Cavaliers. STM’s Amity Strand (+9) and Finley Young (+9) tied for third. Rapid City Christian’s Torah Rose (+14) placed fifth.

The Class A girls golf tournament is June 1-2 at North Sioux City.
