RAPID CITY — Spearfish’s Hayden Heig captured individual medalist honors at Monday’s Rapid City Central boys golf invitational. 

Heig fired a 3-under 69, finishing six shots ahead of second-place finisher and Spearfish’s Bennett Kortan. Heig carded a 34 on the front nine and 35 on the back nine at Rapid City’s Elks Golf Course.

Kortan (75) and St. Thomas More’s Andrew Levine (77) finished second and third, respectively. Spearfish’s Cade Larschied (78) placed fourth, while Douglas’ Trenton Gibbs (79) and Spearfish’s Dean LaFayette (79) tied for fifth place. 

Spearfish (313) edged St. Thomas More (314) for the team championship. Rapid City Central (335), Rapid City Stevens (338) and Hot Springs (359) rounded out the top-five teams.
