Warner 3, Freeman 1

SIOUX FALLS — Warner picked up a four-set win over Freeman in the first round of the Class B state volleyball tournament on Thursday. The set scores were 25-21, 25-27, 25-16, and 25-11.

Warner’s Lauren Marcuson led with 17 kills and 15 digs, while Myra Marcuson tallied 14 kills, 12 digs, and two aces. Kamryn Anderson had 12 kills, while Kendyl Anderson and Kyleigh Schopp each had nine kills. Ava Nilsson had 53 assists, 14 digs, and five blocks, while Courtney Bjorgaard added 22 digs.

Freeman’s Kate Miller led with 18 kills, 14 digs, and four blocks, while Erin Uecker had six kills and 18 digs. Ashlin Jacobsen had 17 digs, while Zenovia Butler and Emily Mendel had 14 and 10 digs, respectively. 


Wolsey-Wessington 3, Northwestern 2

SIOUX FALLS — Wolsey-Wessington earned a five-set win over Northwestern in the first round of the Class B state volleyball tournament on Thursday. The set scores were 25-19, 25-20, 14-25, 21-25 and 19-17. 

Mya Boomsma led the Warbirds with 20 kills, 19 digs, two assists and a block. Payton Kemnitz had 27 assists and five digs. Leah Williams finished with 11 kills and a team leading 29 digs. Mallory Miller had 11 kills, two aces and three blocks. Lainey Uttecht added 22 digs and four assists. 

Leading Northwestern was Ella Haven who had 30 kills, eight digs and six blocks. Ashley Haven contributed 17 kills, 11 digs and an ace. Ella Boekelheide finished with 24 digs, four blocks and three assists. Payton Grandpre finished with 15 digs, two aces and two kills. 

 



Burke 3, Castlewood 2

SIOUX FALLS — Burke earned a five-set win over Castlewood in the first round of the Class B state volleyball tournament on Thursday. The set scores were 13-25, 25-23, 25-19, 17-25 and 15-13. 

Kailee Frank led Burke with 21 kills, 12 digs and an ace. Adisyn Indahl contributed 17 kills, 17 digs, six assists and two aces. Ava Sargent had 16 assists and 13 digs while Elly Witt had 20 assists and seven digs. Elle Johnson tallied 32 digs, two aces and three assists while Paige Bull finished with two blocks, three digs and two kills. 

Castlewood’s Mackenzie Everson had 16 kills and 16 digs. Gracie Haug tallied 35 assists, 13 digs and two aces. Presley Knecht had 11 kills and ten digs. Madeline Horn finished with 9 kills, 17 digs and four aces while Lyndsey Archer contributed 16 digs.

 

Chester Area 3, Colman-Egan 1

SIOUX FALLS — Chester Area earned a four-set win over Colman-Egan in the first round of the Class B state volleyball tournament on Thursday. The set scores were 25-13, 25-16, 16-25 and 25-20. 

Lily VanHal led the Flyers with 18 kills and 25 assists. Jacy Wolf added 18 assists, 12 digs and eight kills. Emery Larson led the defense with 22 digs while Kaylor Geraets added 14 digs and two assists. Serena Larson finished with eight kills, six digs and a block while Addison Bates had eight kills and four blocks. 

Daniela Lee paced Colman-Egan with 12 kills while tallying seven digs and four blocks. Lanie Mousel finished with 26 assists, 11 digs and a block. Kadence Landis had six digs and seven kills while Brynlee Landis had eight kills and sis digs. Berkley Groos had 29 digs, two blocks and four kills for Colman-Egan.

 



Elk Point-Jefferson 3, Wagner 1

SIOUX FALLS — Elk Point-Jefferson picked up a four-set win over Wagner in the first round of the Class A state volleyball tournament on Thursday. The set scores were 25-21, 25-23, 23-25, 27-25. 

Bentlee Kollbaum led the Huskies with 18 kills, nine digs and two blocks. Josie Curry added 13 kills and three blocks. Sophia Giorgio handed out 53 assists and had 11 digs and a block. Alyssa Chytka had 30 digs and an ace. Dannica Torrez finished with nine kills, two aces and 14 digs.

Wagner’s Emma Yost finished with 16 kills and 12 digs. Macy Koupal had 37 assists, 15 digs and two kills. Shalayne Nagel finished with 14 digs and seven kills. Madi Knebel contributed 16 digs while Avari Bruguier had twelve digs and nine kills. 


Sioux Falls Christian 3, Dakota Valley 0

SIOUX FALLS — Sioux Falls Christian swept Dakota Valley in the first round of the Class A volleyball tournament on Thursday. The set scores were 25-14, 25-16 and 25-21. 

Ellie Lems led the Chargers attack with 15 kills, 11 digs and three blocks. Addisen Barber finished with 35 assists, nine digs and a block. Sidney Oostra had ten kills, four aces, 13 digs and two blocks. Peyton Poppeman contributed 16 digs, six kills and two aces. 

Dakota Valley’s Sophie Tuttle managed eight kills and nine digs. Logan Miller finished with 23 assists and 12 digs. Kate Van Rooyan led the Panthers with 23 digs while Jorja Van Den Hull had seven kills and five digs. Addison Kleis added six kills for Dakota Valley. 


Miller 3, Platte-Geddes 2

SIOUX FALLS — Miller came from two sets down to earn a win over Platte-Geddes in the first round of the Class A volleyball tournament on Thursday. The set scores were 24-26, 25-27, 25-17, 25-20 and 15-8. 

Ally Mullaney led Miller with 27 kills while adding eight digs and five blocks. Tyra Gates dished out 43 assists while having 20 digs and three kills. Jolie Palmer led the defense with 29 digs. Abigail Blake had nine kills and four digs while Jaden Werdel finished with eight kills and 16 digs. 

Karly VanDerWerff led Platte-Geddes with 22 kills and 16 digs. Cadence Van Zee finished with 19 kills and a team leading 25 digs. Avery DeVries finished with 37 assists and 17 digs. Regan Hoffman contributed six kills, 10 digs and two blocks with Baleigh Nachtibal adding 15 digs and seven assists.

Elkton-Lake Benton 3, Belle Fourche 0

SIOUX FALLS — Elkton-Lake Benton swept Belle Fourche in the first round of the Class A volleyball tournament on Thursday. The set scores were 25-20, 25-17 and 25-22. 

Andrea Renkly led the Elks with 11 kills. Rachel Krog finished with eight kills, 13 digs and a block. Tevan Erickson had 29 assists, 11 digs, three blocks and two kills. Kylie Ramlo finished with five kills, seven digs and three  blocks while Kinsley Krog added ten digs. 

Mataya Ward finished with 11 kills, two aces and fifteen digs for Belle Fourche. Lily McCarty tallied 32 assists, six digs and an ace. Chloe Crago had 18 digs while Adryana Hovland had ten digs and nine kills for the Broncs.


Sioux Falls Washington 3, Rapid City Stevens 0

SIOUX FALLS — Sioux Falls Washington swept Rapid City Stevens in the first round of the Class AA state volleyball tournament Thursday. Set scores were 25-11, 25-20 and 25-20. 

Sioux Falls Washington’s Joslyn Richardson finished with 20 kills, six digs and two blocks. Macie Malchow finished with 30 assists, six digs and two blocks. Taryn Kirsch led the Warriors with 14 digs while adding five assists and two aces. Anessa Hosman had ten digs and five assists. Carlie Beckstrand finished with six kills and three digs. 

Isabell Higgins led Rapid City Stevens with seven kills, nine assists and five digs. Carsyn Mettler finished with ten assists, five kills and four digs. Macey Wathen had four kills and 11 digs. Sydney Wathen led the Raiders with 14 digs. 

Sioux Falls Washington plays Sioux Falls Jefferson in Friday’s semifinals. Rapid City Stevens plays Pierre in consolation action Friday. 

 



Sioux Falls Jefferson 3, Pierre T.F. Riggs 1

SIOUX FALLS — Sioux Falls Jefferson picked up a four-set win over Pierre T.F. Riggs in the first round of the Class AA state volleyball tournament on Thursday. Set scores were 25-15, 24-26, 25-21, 25-21. 

Cadence Nuttbrock led Sioux Falls Jefferson with 13 kills, three blocks and three digs. Presly Pastian dished out 39 assists and had 15 digs to go along with two blocks. Ella Kvernmo finished with ten kills and 14 digs. Cora Hokenstad led Sioux Falls Jefferson with 22 digs while Kendall Kniffen had 13 digs. 

Reese Terwilliger led Pierre with 12 kills and seven blocks. Lily Sanchez finished with 18 assists, 18 digs and eight kills. Aleise Christopherson had 13 assists and ten digs while Ayvrie Kaiser had 21 digs and six kills.


Sioux Falls O’Gorman 3, Huron 0

SIOUX FALLS — Sioux Falls O’Gorman swept Huron in the first round of the Class AA state volleyball tournament on Thursday. The set scores were 25-14, 25-19 and 25-18. 

Bergen Reilly led the Knights with 20 kills while adding 13 digs. Brooke Harvison tallied 33 assists, five digs, two blocks and a kill. Gabriella Jones led Sioux Falls O’Gorman with 23 digs while teammate Meghan Tiahrt added 13 digs. Brogan Beck added 12 kills and five blocks while Makenzie Walsh had four blocks and two kills. 

Huron was led by Heavan Gainey who finished with 10 kills, eight digs and three aces. Hamtyn Heinz finished with 19 assists and seven kills. Bryn Huber led the Tigers with 19 digs while also serving up two aces.

 

Harrisburg 3, Sioux Falls Lincoln 1

SIOUX FALLS — Harrisburg earned a four-set win over Sioux Falls Lincoln in the first round of the Class AA state volleyball tournament on Thursday. The set scores were 20-25, 25-15, 25-23 and 25-17. 

Gabrielle Zachariasen had 18 kills and ten digs for Harrisburg. Kayleigh Hybertson finished with 47 assists, two aces, four blocks and five digs. Morissen Samuels had 17 kills and five digs while Kaelyn Snoozy tallied 11 digs and eight kills. Karalynn Leach added 11 kills and five blocks for the Tigers. 

Nyareal Kutey paced Sioux Falls Lincoln with 14 kills and three blocks. Samanta Zeeck handed out 32 assists with eight digs and two kills. Claire Brown led the Patriots with 21 digs while Jada Sandvall had ten kills, ten digs and two blocks.
