Four state golf tournaments will tee it up on June 3-4 in Yankton, Sioux Falls and Brookings.

The Class AA girls tournament will be in Yankton, the Class A girls tournament will be in Sioux Falls and the Class B tournaments will be in Brookings.

Here’s a closer look at each tournament:

Last year’s team champ: Gregory

Outlook: Gregory has won the last two Class B state golf tournaments, but with only two golfers in the field, it will not be in the team race this season. Gregory’s Eli Fogel, who was last season’s individual medalist, has graduated. McIntosh’s Wyatt Larson returns after a second-place finish in 2023, while third-place finisher Gavin Colson of Sully Buttes is in the field. Wessington Springs’ Blake Larson, Gregory’s Trey Murray, Hanson’s Ben Wilber and Castlewood’s Lane Tvedt also return after top-five finishes. Monday’s lead group includes Blake Larson, Wyatt Larson, Hamlin’s Aiden Abraham and Sully Buttes’ Wesley Wittler.

Course: Edgebrook Golf Course

Last year’s individual medalist: Bison/Hettinger/Scranton’s Allison Kahler

Last year’s team champ: Chester

Outlook: Bison/Hettinger/Scranton’s Allison Kahler, who won last season’s Class B title, is a freshman golfer at South Dakota School of Mines. After a runner-up finish in 2022, Chester claimed its first-ever Class B girls title in 2023. Chester, which recently won the Region 2B golf title, is led by Jadyn McDonald. The sophomore won the Region 2B individual title and placed seventh at state last season. Cadence Olivier is coming off a fourth-place finish at Region 2B. Miller, which placed third last season, is paced by Jayce Pugh and Kaihlyn Anderberg. The Miller duo tied for third place last season. Monday’s lead group includes Pugh, Clark/Willow Lake’s Brynn Roehrich, Estelline/Hendricks’ Ayla Texley and McDonald

Class A Girls

Course: Bakker Crossing Golf Course

Last year’s individual medalist: St. Thomas More’s Rylan Horning

Last year’s team champ: Sioux Falls Christian

Outlook: St. Thomas More’s Rylan Horning, who won last season’s Class A title, is not in the field this year. Dakota Valley’s Katie Betsworth, who placed third last season, is the top returner this season. Vermillion’s Stephanie Carr and Sioux Falls Christian’s Tori Peterson, who were fourth and fifth, respectively, are in the tournament. Sioux Falls Christian is chasing its fourth consecutive Class A state girls golf championship. Monday’s lead group includes Carr, Sioux Falls Christian’s Cecelia VanDenTop, West Central’s Dakotah Larson and Aberdeen Roncalli’s Grace Seyer.
