CASPER, Wyo. — University of Wyoming’s Bodie Mattson, of Sturgis, and Casper College’s Roan Weil teamed up for the fastest team-roping time at the College National Finals Rodeo.

On Thursday, the duo clocked in at 4.7 seconds, the best time at the entire CNFR this week. They are currently seventh in the overall standings. 

South Dakota State University’s Lan Fuhrer, of Belle Fourche, and Black Hills State University’s Clayton Backhaus are leading the team roping standings at the College National Finals Rodeo.

Fuhrer and Backhaus teamed up for a 6.2 second run on Thursday, currently sixth best in the third go-round. 

Fuhrer and Backaus lead the team roping standings average with a 23.5. The final team-roping performance before the short go-round is Friday. The short go-round performance is Saturday. The top 12 teams qualify for the short go.

Gillette College’s Cooper Filipek, of New Underwood, scored the top bareback score in the third go-round with a 83.5 on Wednesday. He’s currently second in the average (239.5).
