Vermillion girls, Dakota Valley boys win Region 3A cross-country titles

CANTON — The Vermillion girls and Dakota Valley boys won team titles at Wednesday’s Region 3A cross-country meet.

The Vermillion girls won the title with 21 points, finishing ahead of Dakota Valley (39) and Lennox (51). Canton (65) and Ethan/Parkston (79) rounded out the top-five teams.

The Dakota Valley boys won the championship with 24 points, finishing ahead of Lennox (30) and Vermillion (33). Ethan/Parkston (66) and Beresford (104) rounded out the top-five teams.

Individually, Dakota Valley’s Sophia Redler won the girls race, covering the 5,000-meter run at Hiawatha Golf Course in 20:00.09. Vermillion’s Callie Radigan (20:10.53) and Lennox’s Adie McVey (20:14.14) placed second and third, respectively. Vermillion’s Taeli Barta (20:17.00) and Ethan/Parkston’s Ella Pollreisz (20:28.82) rounded out the top-five runners.

On the boys side, Dakota Valley’s Joe Cross (16:31.72) and Jack Brown (16:55.51) placed first and second, respectively. Lennox’s Maverick Horst (17:18.49), Vermillion’s Henry Anderson (17:22.78) and Ethan/Parkston’s Evan Bartelt (17:27.72) rounded out the top-five runners.
