VERMILLION — The Vermillion girls and Dakota Valley boys cross-country teams each won titles at Monday’s Vermillion Invitational run on the Bluffs Golf Course.

Vermillion (27) and Dakota Valley (27) tied for the team title. The Tanagers were awarded the team title on the tiebreaker as their fifth runner, Olivia Formisano edged Dakota Valley’s fifth runner, Rachel Herson. West Central (29) and Canton (65) were the top-four team finishers. 

The Dakota Valley boys won Monday’s team team title scoring 21 points, ahead of West Central (30) and Vermillion (30). Beresford (77) and Canton (88) were the top-five teams.

In the girls race Dakota Valley’s Sophia Redler ran the 5,000-meter course in 20 minutes and 30.09 seconds, ahead of teammate Alex McCullough (20:41) and Vermillion’s Callie Radigan (20:51). West Central’s Brooklyn Sunderman (21:03) and Vermillion’s Taeli Barta (21:06). 

Dakota Valley’s Joe Cross covered the 5,000-meter course in 16:37, ahead of West Central’s Benjamin Strunk (16:47) and Dakota Valley’s Jack Brown (16:58). West Central’s Jonathon Roth (17:17) and Vermillion’s Henry Anderson (17:29) rounded out the top-five team finishers.
