Vermillion holds lead in team standings after Day 1 of Class A boys state golf tournament

ABERDEEN — The Vermillion boys golf team holds a 16-shot lead after Day 1 of the Class A boys state tournament at Moccasin Creek Golf Course in Aberdeen on Monday. Day 2 of the tournament tees off at 9 a.m. on Tuesday.

Vermillion leads the team standings with a score of 304, followed by Aberdeen Roncalli (320) in second place. Dakota Valley (326) and Sioux Valley (328) are in third and fourth place, while West Central rounds out the top five with a score of 329.

Chamberlain’s Dakota Munger, Tea Area’s Keeton Newborg, and Vermillion’s Trey Hansen and Cooper Girard hold a tie for first place with a score of 74. Sioux Falls Christian’s Kaleb Jost and Aberdeen Roncalli’s Finn Anderson are tied for fifth place with scores of 75.
