Viborg-Hurley’s Coral Mason and Denae Mach are 1,000-point scorers, state champs and Class B first-team all-staters.

The dynamic duo led the Cougars to back-to-back state championships and were chosen to the Class B all-state first team, which was selected by the South Dakota Basketball Coaches Association.

They were joined on the first team by Wolsey-Wessington’s Mallory Miller, Ethan’s Ava Lingemann, Corsica-Stickney’s Avery Broughton and Jones County’s Mallory Valburg.

Mason, a repeat first-team selection, is the Class B player of the year. Mach was a second-team selection last season. They led the Cougars to a 23-3 record and they went undefeated against Class B opponents this season.

Broughton capped off her decorated career with her fifth all-state selection, including her fourth straight first-team honor. She was a second-team selection in 2019. Broughton, a 5-foot-11 guard/forward, tallied 17.4 points, nine rebounds and three assists per game. She finished with 2,229 career points, the 17th most in South Dakota girls basketball history.
