Viborg-Hurley's Luke Campbell runs top Class B hurdle times at Avon Invitational

AVON — The Chamberlain girls and Viborg-Hurley boys captured team titles at Friday’s Avon Invitational. 

The Chamberlain girls won with 174 points, finishing ahead of Corsica-Stickney (116) and Avon (105). The Viborg-Hurley boys won with 158 points, ahead of Bon Homme (103) and Wagner (103). 

Viborg-Hurley’s Luke Campbell was a double winner in the 110-meter hurdles (:15.13) and 300-meter hurdles (:39.88). Campbell’s times are currently the fastest hurdle times in Class B boys track and field. 

Chamberlain’s Canyon Burkhard won the discus (140-10) and placed second in the shot put (42-7.5). 

Avon’s Aziah Meyer won the 100-meter dash (:11.85), long jump (18-10.25) and placed fourth in the high jump (5-6). 

Wessington Springs’ Holden Havlik won the javelin (140-10) and placed fourth in the 100-meter dash (:12.36). 

The Viborg-Hurley boys won the 800-meter relay (1:35.63) and 1,600-meter relay (3:40.66).

The Wessington Springs boys won the 3,200-meter relay (9:04.22) and sprint medley relay (3:58.79). 

In girls action, Bon Homme’s Erin Heusinkveld won the 100-meter dash (:13.52) and high jump (4-8). The Bon Homme girls won the 400-meter relay (:52.06) and 800-meter relay (1:53.80), with Heusinkveld anchoring both relays. 

Corsica-Stickney’s Braylee Bordewyk won the 200-meter dash (:27.74), 400-meter dash (1:02.72) and finished second in the 100-meter dash (:13.69). 

Chamberlain’s Kinsey Evans captured first-place finishes in the 1,600-meter run (5:23.70) and 3,200-meter run (11:38.86). Evans also ran the anchor leg on Chamberlain’s winning 1,600-meter relay (4:23.47) and 3,200-meter relay (10:19.12) teams. The Cubs also won the sprint medley relay (4:40.30). 

Chamberlain’s Grace Phillips won the 800-meter run (2:37.15) and placed second in the 3,200-meter run (12:42.38). 

Avon’s Lila Vanderlei won the discus (120-1) and placed second in the shot put (34-10.5). 

Avon’s Courtney Sees captured the long jump (16-0) and Wessington Springs’ Avery Orth won the shot put (36-11).
