GAYVILLE — The Viborg-Hurley boys and Centerville girls picked up Region 5B track and field titles on Thursday.
The Cougars finished with 155 points, followed by Freeman Academy/Marion (118). The Tornadoes won the girls title with 136.5 points, edging Irene-Wakonda (133).
On the boys side, Viborg-Hurley’s George Johnson claimed the 100-meter dash (:11.17), 200-meter dash (:23.52) and 400-meter dash (:52.96).
Viborg-Hurley’s Byron Osterloo also earned a first-place finish in the long jump (18-6.5).
The Cougars won the 400-meter relay, 800-meter relay and 1,600-meter relay.
Freeman Academy/Marion’s Tavin Schroeder earned first-place finishes in the 1,600-meter run (4:48.11) and 3,200-meter run (10:51.09).
FAM’s Thalen Schroeder captured first-place finishes in the high jump (5-11) and 800-meter run (2:02.79).
Irene-Wakonda’s Chase Dahlerup was a double winner in the shot put (46-0.5) and discus (122-10).
On the girls side, Centerville’s Thea Gust claimed a first-place finish in the high jump (5-1), while the Tornadoes also won the 800-meter relay,
Alcester-Hudson’s Carly Patrick was a double winner in the 100-meter dash (:13.47) and 200-meter dash (:27.04).
Menno’s Raygen Diede claimed first-place finishes in the shot put (38-0) and discus (119-7).
Menno’s Ashton Massey earned first-place finishes in the triple jump (34-3) and the 100-meter hurdles (:16.53).
