Four accomplished seniors headline this year’s Class A girls basketball all-state first team, as selected by the South Dakota Basketball Coaches Association.

The first team is headlined by Wagner’s Ashlyn Koupal, who is the Class A player of the year after receiving the most all-state votes. Classmates Ashlan Carlow-Blount (Mahpiya Luta), Addison Neuendorf (Hamlin) and Blake Thompson (Mobridge-Pollock) were all first-team selections. Vermillion sophomore Taylor Reuvers and Sioux Falls Christian junior Lezlei Setzer round out the first-team selections.

Koupal, one of South Dakota’s most all-time decorated girls basketball players, is making her fourth consecutive Class A all-state first-team selection. Koupal was part of four state tournament teams, including a runner-up finish in 2023.

A 6-foot-3 do-it-all guard/forward, Koupal averaged 28.3 points, 14 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game, while blocking 82 shots. Koupal racked up 2,610 points, 1,210 rebounds, 463 assists, 383 blocks and 253 steals in her career. Her point total is the fifth most in South Dakota girls basketball history.

She’s the first-ever South Dakota girls basketball player selected to play in the prestigious McDonald’s All-American Game. She will play college basketball at Division I Nebraska.

Mahpiya Luta's Ashlan Carlow-Blount celebrates a fast break basket with teammate Layla Janis (12) against Lakota Tech during the Lakota Nation Invitational girls championship game on Dec. 20, 2025 at Summit Arena at The Monument in Rapid City.

Carlow-Blount also capped off a decorated career at Mahpiya Luta. She is making her second consecutive Class A all-state first team, following second-team honors in 2024 and a third-team selection in 2023.

A 6-foot versatile guard, Carlow-Blount averaged 17.2 points, 7.9 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 4.7 steals per game.

She guided Mahpiya Luta to a 113-11 record in the past five seasons, including two consecutive Class A runner-up finishes in 2025 and ‘26.

Carlow-Blount finished her career as the program’s leader in points (1,775), rebounds (704), assists (582), steals (484) and blocked shots (77). Carlow-Blount, who was selected as the Class A Spirit of Su, will play college basketball at Division I South Dakota.

Neuendorf also concluded an accomplished career for the Hamlin Chargers. She was selected to her third consecutive all-state first team, while she earned third-team honors in 2023.

Neuendorf has been a five-year regular for Hamlin, and she helped the Chargers reach four state tournaments. Neuendorf was part of the state championship team in 2023.

This season, she averaged 16.6 points, 5.6 assists and four rebounds per game. She scored 1,746 career points, second most in program history. She finished as the Hamlin career leader in assists (543), 3-pointers made (305) and free-throw percentage (82%). She will play college basketball at Division II Northern State University.

Thompson lands on the first team after earning third-team honors last season. She’s the first Tiger girls basketball player to earn Class A all-state first-team status since Brittany Fuhrman in 2005. A 5-foot-8 guard, Thompson averaged 20.2 points and five rebounds per game this season, while adding 66 steals. Thompson, who scored her 1,000th career point this season, will play college basketball at Division II Black Hills State University.

Just a sophomore, Reuvers is making her third consecutive Class A all-state selection. She was first-team honoree in 2025 and a third-team selection in 2024. Reuvers averaged 27.8 points, 6.8 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game, while totaling 114 steals. Reuvers, who has an offer from Division I South Dakota, surpassed 1,000 career points this season.

A 6-foot-2 junior center, Setzer is making her first-ever all-state team. She averaged 17.9 points and 9.2 rebounds per game this season, while swatting 49 shots for the third-place Chargers.
