Another week and a new No. 1 ranked team in the South Dakota girls team rankings.

The Canton girls regained Dakota Grapplers top ranking accumulating 168 points, ahead of Pierre (154) and Watertown (113), Harrisburg (88) and Aberdeen Central (77) rounded out the top-five teams in the week 9 Rankings.

Interesting change in the rankings as Pierre edged Canton (231-225) to win Saturday’s Lee Wolf Invitational. No matter where you sit on the side of Canton or Pierre, wrestling fans will be treated to one heck of a team race at this year’s state tournament.

A couple of new No. 1’s this week both revolving around Bon Homme/Scotland/Avon’s Peyton Hellmann bumping up in weight (145). Hellmann is the new No. 1 at 145 and Kingsbury County’s Jaidynn Giedd slid into the top ranking at 138, the weight class Hellmann vacated.
