Wolsey-Wessington boys, James Valley Christian girls claim 281 Conference titles

HURON — The Wolsey-Wessington boys and James Valley Christian girls won team titles at Tuesday’s 281 Conference track and field meet. 

The Wolsey-Wessington boys finished with 158 points, edging James Valley Christian (155.5) for the team title. Hitchcock-Tulare (111) placed third.

The JVC girls recorded 190 points, finishing just ahead of Wolsey-Wessington (184). Hitchcock-Tulare (91) placed third. 

In boys action, Wolsey-Wessington’s Caleb Richmond (:53.61) and Moshe Richmond (:54.39) placed first and second, respectively, in the 400-meter dash. Caleb Richmond added a first-place finish in the 800-meter run (2:04.65). 

Wolsey-Wessington’s Colin Hughes won the discus (124-2) and placed second in the shot put (41-9). 

Sanborn Central/Woonsocket’s Cody Slykhuis earned first-place finishes in the 110-meter hurdles (:16.36), 300-meter hurdles (:44.88) and triple jump (40-5). 

SCW’s Jeffery Boschee captured a first-place finish in the high jump (6-5.25), placed second in the javelin (125-3) and long jump (19-10.5). 

Hitchcock-Tulare’s Erik Salmen was a double winner in the shot put (43-1.5) and javelin (138-3). 

James Valley Christian’s Gavin Waldner won the 100-meter dash (:11.93), long jump (20-2.25) and placed second in the 200-meter dash (:25.29). 

JVC’s Kaden Ober won the 3,200-meter run (11:03.94) and placed third in the 1,600-meter run (5:00.06). 

JVC’s Dax Frandsen won the 1,600-meter run (5:00.06). 

The Hitchcock-Tulare boys won the 400-meter relay (:47.67) and 800-meter relay (1:37.82). 

The Wessington Springs boys won the sprint medley relay (4:02.23) and 1,600-meter relay (3:40.86). 

In girls action, James Valley Christian’s Daril Frandsen earned first-place finishes in the 800-meter run (2:30.56) and 1,600-meter run (5:40.39). She also ran on JVC’s winning 1,600-meter relay (4:21.16). JVC also won the 3,200-meter relay (11:11.97). 

JVC’s Andee Frandsen won the 300-meter hurdles (:48.08) and finished second in the 100-meter hurdles (:16.86). 

Wolsey-Wessington’s Kendal Uttecht won the 400-meter dash (1:03.28) and placed third in the 800-meter run (2:32.34). Uttecht was on the Warbirds’ winning 400-meter relay (:55.04). 

Wolsey-Wessington’s Tatum Luce won the high jump (4-10) and pole vault (7-0). 

Iroquois/Lake Preston’s Adison Moore won the 100-meter dash (:12.61) and 200-meter dash (:26.91). Moore was on the winning 800-meter relay (3:01.00). 

Highmore-Harrold’s Autumn Fallis won the 3,200-meter run (12:45.38) and placed second in the 1,600-meter run (5:42.50). 

SCW’s Elizabeth Boschee won the 100-meter hurdles (:16.37), javelin (110-6), placed second in the 300-meter hurdles (:50.03) and finished second in the high jump (4-10). 

Wessington Springs’ Avery Orth won the shot put (37-11).

Iroquois/Lake Preston’s Hadlee Holt won the discus (113-1) and finished second in the shot put (37-5.25). 

Hitchcock-Tulare’s Emma Schneider earned first-place finishes in the triple jump (34-2) and long jump (16-5).
