McLaughlin secured the Class 9B All-Nations Football Conference No. 1 seed with an 8-0 regular-season record. 

The Mustangs have outscored their opponents by 38.3 points per game, but their two toughest games were back-to-back wins over White River (24-22) and Marty (18-14). McLaughlin will now host No. 4 Marty (5-4) in the Class 9B semifinals on Oct. 31. 

The winner advances to the Class 9B state championship on Nov. 7 in Vermillion. No. 2 White River (7-1) hosts No. 6 Tiospa Zina (4-5) in the other Class 9B semifinal contest. 

The Tigers defeated the Wambdi, 50-0, on Sept. 5. 

In Class 9A, Winnebago (Neb.) and Todd County are the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds, respectively. Winnebago (8-0) will host No. 4 Mahpiya Luta (6-3) and Todd County (7-1) hosts No. 3 Little Wound (7-2) in the Class 9A semifinals. 

Winnebago defeated Mahpiya Luta, 55-22, on Sept. 19. Todd County defeated Little Wound, 44-20, on Sept. 4.
