SIOUX FALLS — The West Central softball team defeated Dell Rapids, 15-11 to claim the first-ever Dak-12 softball title Monday.

The Trojans pounded out 19 hits and pushed across six runs on six hits in the seventh inning to secure the win. 

West Central’s Emilee Stofferahn drove in four runs on four hits, including a home run to center in the seventh inning that scored three runs.

Dell Rapids took a 2-0 lead in the first inning as Jaycee Tebay doubled, scoring two runs. West Central jumped in front, 3-2 in the third inning with a home run from Kadence Lupkes, a double from Hannahy Raethz and a Stofferahn single. 

Dell Rapids tied the game 3-3 in their half of the third as Tebay drove in another run with a single. 

The Quarriers took their last lead of the game, 11-9 scoring four runs off a ground out from Claire Wynja and a three-run homer from Makaylah O’Meara. 

Stofferahn earned the win for West Central allowing 10 hits and seven runs over five innings. Stofferahn struck out eight batters and walked one Dell Rapids player.
