Lesterville 5, Platte 4

MITCHELL — Alex Wagner struck out 13 batters as Lesterville edged Platte in Class B state amateur baseball action on Friday. 

Wagner scattered nine hits, allowed two earned runs and walked three batters on 154 pitches. Lesterville logged 14 hits, including a team-high four hits and one RBI by Tanner VanDriel. 

Ethan Wishon, Tyler Edler, Michael Drotzmann and Hunter Martin had two hits apiece. Drotzmann drove in two runs. Cameron Schlitz and Martin knocked in runs. 

For Platte, Grant Doom finished 3 of 5 and drove in three runs. Sheldon Gant added two hits, while Hunter Hewitt drove in a run. Aaron Groeneweg, Hayden Kuiper and Michael Buitenbos each had hits. Travis Gant took the loss after surrendering 11 hits, four earned runs, one walk and struck out five batters in his five-inning start. 


Menno 8, Northville 3

MITCHELL — Macon Oplinger pitched a complete game and Menno rallied past Northville in Class B state amateur baseball action on Friday.

Oplinger struck out seven batters, allowed two earned runs, two walks and scattered seven hits on 116 pitches. 

Peyton Weisler had two hits and drove in three runs. Dylan Lehr and Dustin Livingston had two hits apiece. Spencer Schultz drove in two runs, while Jake Weier, Tate Gale and Preston Gall each had hits. 

For Northville, Ethan Beyers finished 2 of 3 and drove in two runs. Carson Simes had two hits, while Ben Fischbach, Greg Heyne and Max Waltman each had hits. Sam Vetter took the loss after allowing one run, two walks and struck out zero batters on one relief inning. 



Canova 14, Elkton 0 (7 innings)

MITCHELL — Canova blanked Elkton in Class B state amateur baseball action on Friday.

Derek Miller picked up the win after six strikeouts, five hits allowed and zero walks on 79 pitches. 

Justin Miller finished 3 of 6 and knocked in three runs. Garrett Gassman, Cole Gassman and Kalub Carmichael had two hits apiece. Cole Gassman and Carmichael each drove in runs. Kendall Gassman, Tim Gassman, Tyler Genzlinger, Jared Miller and Jason Miller each had hits. 

For Elkton, Aiden Erickson, Logan Kuehl, Charlie Harming, Aiden Stewart and Jordan Beck each had hits. Stewart took the loss after allowing seven earned runs, six walks and struck out four batters in his five-inning start.
