Avon’s Al’Shamon Gunter collects two first-place finishes at Greenway Relays

MOUNT VERNON — Avon’s Al’Shamon Gunter was a double winner at Friday’s Greenway Relays. 

Gunter took first place in the discus throw (148-05) and shot put (42-04).

The Mount Vernon/Plankinton boys took the team title Thursday with 95.5 points, ahead of Canton (86) and Kimball/White Lake (76) while the Canton girls team won the team title with 134.33 points, ahead of Chamberlain (81) and Mount Vernon/Plankinton (68).

In the boys' meet, Kimball/White Lake’s Lincoln Kranig won the 100-meter dash (:11.33) while teammate Darron Moeller took the 3,200-meter run (10:40.01).

Canton’s Landon Dominisse took first place in the 200-meter dash (:23.10), while Jeremy Bockelman added a first place finish in the 800-meter run (2:11.19) for the C-Hawks.

Chamberlain’s Isaac Shepherd won the 400-meter race (:51.90).

Estelline/Hendricks’ Cooper Schaefer took the 1,600-meter run (4:49.25).

Tri-Valley’s Ty Oyen secured the 110-meter hurdles (:15.24) and 300-meter hurdles (:41.07).

KWL’s Chevy Fees, Rhys Truman, Carter Konechne and Kranig won the 400-meter relay (45.02) while Konechne, Fees, Kranig and Conner Stahl took the 1,600-meter relay (3:36.79).

Mount Vernon/Plankinton’s Cole Sandland, Kyle Sandland, Derrick Fletcher and Riley Mayer took the 800-meter relay (1:35.31) while Barrett Bridge, Trysten Eide, Jaxson Tollefson and Hudson Schmidt secured the 3,200-meter relay (8:58.03) for the Titans as well.

Kyle Sandland, Fletcher, Mayer and Schmidt secured the 1,600-meter sprint medley relay (3:45.14) as well.

Wagner’s Shea Kjeldgaard won the high jump event (5-11).

Wagner’s Javian Pesicka took the javelin throw (148-05).

Andes Central/Dakota Christian’s Jamian Medicine Horn won the long jump event (19-08.75).

MVP’s Cole Sandland took the triple jump event (40-04.00).

In the girls’ meet, Corsica-Stickney’s Braylee Bordewyk won the 100-meter dash (:13.23).

Burke’s Breckynn Pistulka won the 200-meter race (:26.97).

Wessington Springs’ Kenzie Kolousek won the 400-meter race (:59.31).

Chamberlain’s Grace Phillips won the 800-meter run (2:20.42) while Amelia LaPointe took the 3,200-meter run (13:12.14) for the Cubs.

MVP’s Brooklyn Bosma took the 100-meter hurdles (:17.48) while Suri Schmidt won the 1,600-meter run (5:29.13).

Chester’s Jacy Wolf won the 300-meter hurdles (46.32).

Canton’s Gracie Turbes, Ashlyn Herting, Avery Kranz and Jayla York took the 400-meter relay (:52.91).

CS’s Brooklyn Vanden Hoek, Emersyn Veurink, Hadynn Johnson and Bordewyk won the 800-meter relay (1:51.59).

MVP’s Abigail Engelland, Schmidt, Aspen Bosma and Sammi Eide won the 1,600-meter relay (4:16.69) and the 3,200-meter relay (9:53.84) while Engelland, Brooklyn Bosma, Schmidt and Eide combined to win the 1,600-meter sprint medley relay (4:23.70).

In the field events, Canton’s Kori Wallner took the discus (124-00) and shot put event (36-03.75) while Rylan Aasheim secured the long jump title (14-10.25) for the C-Hawks.

Canton’s Gracie Turbes took the triple jump title (33-06.50) as well.

Wagner’s Ashlyn Koupal won the high jump event (5-03).

Sanborn Central/Woonsocket’s Liz Boschee took first place in the javelin throw (127-07).
