Belle Fourche's Lia Mundt, Hill City's Tate Grabow claim Region 5A cross-country championships

RAPID CITY — Belle Fourche’s Lia Mundt and Hill City’s Tate Grabow claimed individual titles at Thursday’s Region 5A cross-country meet.

Mundt covered the 5,000-meter distance at Hart Ranch in 19 minutes and :39.71 seconds, finishing ahead of Hill City’s Rarity Cournoyer (20:00.71). Rapid City Christian’s Taylor Harrelson (20:10.90), Hill City’s Aspen Veneklasen (20:25.34) and Lead-Deadwood’s Hallie Person (20:51.25) rounded out the top-five runners. 


Grabow won the boys 5,000-meter run in 15:53.18. Custer’s Sean Shipp (16:10.00) and Belle Fourche’s Lennon Clarkson (16:43.68) finished second and third, respectively. Rapid City Christian’s Lionel Hinson (17:10.49) and Custer’s Austin Drew (17:18.06) rounded out the top-five runners. 

In the girls team standings, Hill City (22) finished ahead of the pack. Belle Fourche (31) and Custer (51) rounded out the top-three teams.

In the boys team standings, Custer (21) won the team title. Hill City (33) and Rapid City Christian (48) rounded out the top-three teams.
