RAPID CITY — South Dakota’s top two girls teams are in a battle with one of the top teams from North Dakota Friday as 50 teams from multiple states compete in the Rapid City Invite. 

Pierre has a slight lead over Canton racking up 117.5 points, ahead of Bismarck (N.D.) (107.5) and Canton at 99.5 points, ahead of Dickinson (N.D.) (98) and Watertown 75.5.

Five Canton wrestlers Nayeli Ortega (114), Finley Evjen (120), Lakynn Qualsath (145), Kori Wallner (185) and Natalie Long (250) all advanced to Saturday’s semifinals. For Pierre, Shaylee Spreck (100), Dani Ringstmeyer (126), Lexie Hillmer (132), Kezrey Benning (138), Ireland Templeton (145) and Abbigail Lewis (152) all went undefeated on day one of the Rapid City Invitational.
