Pierre girls claim win Rapid City Invitational team championship

RAPID CITY — The Pierre girls claimed the team title at Saturday’s Rapid City Invitational.

The Governors racked up 200.5 points, ahead of Bismarck, North Dakota (178.5) and Canton (156). 

Pierre’s Dani Ringstmeyer (126 pounds) and Ireland Templeton (145) both claimed first-place finishes. Ringstmeyer topped Harrisburg’s Hadley Bryant by a 9-1 major decision to win her title match. Templeton defeated Bismarck, North Dakota’s Aubrie Overson by a 7-3 decision to win her championship match. Templeton also won her 100th career match at the tourney. 

Pierre’s Shaylee Speck (2nd, 100), Lexie Hillmer (2nd, 132), Kezrey Benning (4th, 138), Abbigail Lewis (2nd, 152) and Brylee Pelle (7th, 235) also placed for the Governors.

The other South Dakotans to earn first-place finishes were Belle Fourche’s Kyra Vandenberg (100), Watertown’s Olivia Anderson (107), Watertown’s Brooklynn Randall (114), Canton’s Finley Evjen (120), Spearfish’s Candice Matsuda (132), Sioux Valley’s Summer Guthmiller (138) and Rapid City Stevens’ Marieda Kalahar (165).
