VERMILLION — It’s deja vu in Class 11A.

For the second straight season, Dak-XII Conference foes Sioux Falls Christian and Lennox will square off in the Class 11A state championship.

No. 1 Sioux Falls Christian (11-0) will play No. 2 Lennox (9-2) at noon Saturday at the DakotaDome in Vermillion in a rematch of the 2024 title game, a 14-6 Oriole win.

The Chargers have not lost since the setback, rattling off 11 straight wins and outscoring their opponents by 35.7 points per game. Sioux Falls Christian averages 41.5 points per game, and it allows just 5.8 points per game.

Sioux Falls Christian won the regular-season meeting against Lennox, a 17-0 win on Sept. 12. It was Sioux Falls Christian’s closest margin of victory this season. The Chargers have pitched five shutouts this season, including wins over Rapid City Christian (54-0) and West Central (35-0) in the playoffs.

The Chargers’ offensive attack is powered by quarterback Cooper Strande, a 6-foot-2, 176-pound sophomore.

The Chargers are gunning for their first-ever Class 11A state championship. Sioux Falls Christian’s previous two football championships (2017, ‘18) were in Class 11B.

Lennox dropped back-to-back games against Sioux Falls Christian (17-0) and West Central (9-7) in mid-September. The Orioles have strung together seven straight wins, including back-to-back playoff wins over Tri-Valley (49-22) and Dell Rapids (15-14).

The Orioles avenged a 34-14 regular-season setback against the Quarriers in the semifinals. Against the Quarriers, Lennox quarterback Jhaimann Huntington went 10-of-27 for 81 yards. Brennen Juffer added four receptions for 49 yards. Drake Mikkelsen had four receptions for 29 yards. Huntington added 107 yards rushing on 12 carries and one touchdown. Ramsey Williams finished with 15 carries for 35 yards and one touchdown.

The Orioles are looking for their state football championship in school history. In addition to last season’s state title, Lennox also won the 1982 state championship.
