Dell Rapids returned to Class 11A glory last season, and is two wins away from doing it again.

Last season, the Quarriers snapped an eight-year championship drought, winning their first Class 11A state championship since 2014. 

This season, the Quarriers can earn back-to-back state championships for the first time since winning three straight from 2010-12. 

The Quarriers (10-0) will host Sioux Falls Christian (8-2) at 7 p.m. CT in the Class 11A semifinals, with the winner advancing to the state championship on Nov. 10 in Vermillion. 

Dell Rapids dominated Class 11A opponents this season, and its closest game was against Class 11B Hot Springs, a 20-14 win. The Quarriers are averaging 45.2 points per game, while allowing 13.2 points per game on defense. 

They stayed perfect last week against Madison, a 52-0 playoff win. The Quarriers have not played Sioux Falls Christian this season, which defeated Dakota Valley (24-13) in its playoff opener last week. 

Sioux Falls Christian is on an eight-game winning streak. The Chargers lost their first two games against Canton and West Central, before rattling off eight straight wins. 

In the other Class 11A semifinal contest, West Central (9-1) hosts Lennox (6-4) at 7 p.m., in Hartford. West Central, last season’s Class 11A runner-up, defeated Lennox by a 36-6 score earlier this year. 

West Central’s lone defeat was against Class 11B No. 1 seed Winner, a 28-0 decision. The Trojans defeated Chamberlain, 45-13, in their playoff opener. 

Lennox dropped three straight games to finish the regular season, but upset Canton (28-22) in its playoff opener to earn a semifinal berth.
