There’s no telling what will happen in Class 11AA.

The class features two teams (Yankton and Huron) with two losses, one team (Pierre) with three losses and five teams with four losses. The class has featured eye-brow raising outcomes all season, and the playoffs project to be more of the same.

Yankton (7-2) is the No. 1 seed and will host No. 8 Spearfish (5-4) in the opener. The Bucks dropped a 49-3 decision against Class 11AAA Harrisburg, along with a 27-21 setback against Sturgis. But got back on track with wins over Brookings (14-7), Tea Area (31-7) and Mitchell (40-7) to end the regular season.

No. 5 Watertown (5-4) travels to play at No. 4 Sturgis (5-4) in a rematch from an Oct. 17 game, a 29-15 Arrow victory. Sturgis closed the regular season with a narrow 13-9 win over Spearfish.

The Scoopers own a 27-21 win over No. 1 Yankton, along with a 26-21 win over Brookings in the season opener. The Arrows, who won last season’s Class 11AA state championship, are riding a three-game winning streak. After a 23-12 loss against Spearfish, the Arrows downed Tea Area (15-7), Sturgis (29-15) and Aberdeen Central (33-27).

Huron dropped a 27-21 decision against Yankton in the season opener, but rattled off seven straight wins and own quality wins over Pierre (13-7), Tea Area (16-0), Sturgis (33-16) and Spearfish (27-25). The Tigers finished the regular season with a 22-14 loss against Brookings.

The Tigers (7-2) and Bobcats (5-4) will now play seven days later.

Brookings is on a two-game winning streak entering the postseason.

No. 3 Pierre (6-3) will host No. 6 Tea Area (5-4) as the Governors are looking for another trip to the DakotaDome. Pierre has played in 10 Class 11AA state championships since 2013, including eight titles. Pierre is 5-0 all-time against the Titans, including state championship wins in 2021 and ‘22.

The Titans enter the postseason on a three-game losing streak, with losses against Watertown (15-7), Yankton (31-7) and Class 11AAA Sioux Falls Washington (27-7).
