Two narrow rematches headline Class 11AA football.

Both semifinal matchups were decided by six points apiece earlier this season, setting up highly anticipated sequels this coming Friday.

On the bottom half of the bracket, the dynasty is trying to reclaim its throne as Class 11AA’s best after losing in the state championship a season ago.

The Governors entered the playoffs as the No. 3 seed, but showed out with a dominant 41-7 win over Tea Area in the quarterfinals.

Pierre’s three losses are against Huron (13-7), Yankton (35-28) and Class 11AAA O’Gorman (27-23) but have wins over Watertown (41-19), Brookings (20-17), Sturgis Brown (44-0) and Spearfish (45-28) in the regular season.

The Govs are averaging 30.7 points per game while surrendering 15.2 points per game defensively, and are led by sophomore quarterback Jerren Deal and highly-touted tight end prospect Cooper Terwilliger.

Huron will look to knock off the Governors after defeating them earlier this season in a 13-7 nail-biter. The Tigers took that game on a late-game pick-six by Jeremy Hofer.

Since then, Huron has won seven of its last eight games, dropping one to Brookings (22-14) before defeating them a week later in the quarterfinals, 7-2.

The Tigers defense has led them all season long, allowing just 11.6 points per game, while the offense pours in 24.7 points per game as well.

Junior quarterback Anderson Porisch has thrown for 1,294 yards, 11 touchdowns to eight interceptions, while running for 505 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground.

Senior running back Landon Hulst takes the workload in the ground game, running 159 times for 1,036 yards and eight touchdowns.

Mason Jurgens has caught 47 passes for 445 yards and five touchdowns while Riley Winegar has 18 recep]tions for 295 yards and five touchdown receptions as well.

No. 4 Sturgis Brown (6-4) heads east to Yankton (8-2) as the only team in 11AA football to hand Yankton a loss this season.

The Scoopers defeated Yankton 27-21 on Oct. 3, but fell in the standings losing four of six games to end the regular season. Sturgis Brown lost to Huron (33-16), Aberdeen Central (21-13), Pierre (44-0) and Watertown (29-15) but have big wins over Yankton, Brookings (26-21) and Spearfish (13-9).

SB avenged the prior loss to Watertown by knocking them out in the quarterfinals last Thursday (28-21).

The Scoopers are averaging 21.4 points per game while allowing 20.9 points per game defensively.

Yankton comes in as the top-seed in the class with its only losses coming against Sturgis Brown and Harrisburg (49-3). The Bucks are currently on a four-game winning streak, picking up wins over Brookings (14-7), Tea Area (31-7), Mitchell (40-7) and Spearfish (12-7).

The Bucks are scoring 31.2 points per game while allowing 18.8 points per game defensively.
