Class 11AAA Playoff Previews - Lincoln, Brandon Valley, Harrisburg and Jefferson make up semifinal round

It’s the same final four once again in Class 11AAA. 

For the second straight season, Harrisburg, Brandon Valley, Jefferson and Lincoln are in the Class 11AAA semifinals. 

No. 5 Harrisburg (6-4) plays at No. 1 Brandon Valley (9-1) and No. 3 Jefferson (8-2) plays No. 2 Lincoln (9-1) in the semifinals. 

Brandon Valley began the season with eight straight wins, but Jefferson handed the Lynx a 24-21 loss in the regular-season finale. Brandon Valley got back on track in the playoff opener, pulling away from Roosevelt, 41-14. Against the Rough Rider, Levi Veskrna rushed for 64 yards and three touchdowns. Ryder Mueller added 12 rushes for 77 yards and a touchdown run for Brandon Valley. Jack Blomgren added a 43-yard touchdown run. Lynx quarterback Will VanLeur was 3-of-5 passing for 39 yards.

Harrisburg, meanwhile, avenged a season-opening loss against O’Gorman (17-3) in the playoff opener. Against the Knights, Beckett Paulson threw for a pair of touchdowns. The victory snapped a three-game losing streak for the Tigers. 

Lincoln, which has won the last two Class 11AAA state championships, pulled away from upset-minded Rapid City Central (60-21) in the quarterfinal round. Against the Cobblers, Brody Schafer passed for three touchdowns and added a rushing touchdown. The Patriots rushed for 426 yards. 

Jefferson is riding a five-game winning streak, including a 42-12 win over Washington in the playoff opener. Jefferson running back Daevion Simonsen has rushed for 1,268 yards on 225 yards and has 17 touchdowns. Boston Bryant has passed for 1,559 yards and 16 touchdowns, while Jase Unzen has caught 64 catches for 787 yards and 13 touchdown passes.
