Class 11AAA heavyweights Sioux Falls Lincoln, Brandon Valley to clash at the DakotaDome

VERMILLION — Sioux Falls Lincoln is eyeing a repeat and Brandon Valley is gunning for its first state championship since 2020. They’ll collide in the Class 11AAA state championship on Nov. 16 at the DakotaDome. 

Brandon Valley (11-0) is the No. 1 seed, is the last undefeated team in Class 11AAA, and defeated Lincoln 39-13 on Oct. 4. The Lynx have rolled to an undefeated season with relative ease, but fended off Jefferson 37-34 in last week’s semifinals to earn a trip to Vermillion. 

Briggs Knutson has completed 123-of-165 passes for 1,487 yards and 17 passing touchdowns. Levi Veskrna has rushed for 918 yards on 166 carries and has 15 rushing touchdowns. 

Gus Scott has compiled 631 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns. Former Jackrabbit Landon Dulaney has hauled in 945 receiving yards on 70 receptions and has 17 touchdowns. 

Evan Gray has posted a team-high 69 tackles and eight sacks. Chase Leary has intercepted four passes. 

Lincoln (10-1) won last season’s Class 11AAA state championship, and can be the first team to repeat as champs since Washington won three straight from 2015-17. The Patriots also won a semifinal thriller last week, outlasting Harrisburg 20-14. 

Brandon Valley scores 35.5 points per game and allows 7.6 points per game on defense.

Lincoln’s Brody Schafer has completed 144-of-216 passes for 1,754 yards and has 22 passing touchdowns. Schafer has also rushed for 694 yards and 13 touchdowns. 

Josh Myers has racked up 831 yards rushing on 120 carries and 11 touchdowns. Louison Akossi has 35 catches for 612 yards receiving and nine receiving touchdowns. Mikey Roche has hauled in 45 catches for 515 yards and six touchdown receptions. 

Defensively, Connor Gray has posted 62 tackles, 10 tackles for loss and two sacks. Reuben Diehyee has a team-high five sacks, while Edison Noll has intercepted four passes. 

Lincoln is scoring 39 points per game on offense and gives up 14.8 points per game on defense.
