Class AA girls sweep 3-Class Shootout all-star games

SALEM — The Class AA girls all-stars won both games at Saturday’s 3-Class Shootout.

In Game 1, Class AA defeated Class A (83-79) and outlasted Class B (80-79) in the second game. 

In the first game, Spearfish’s Mya Kochuten finished with 13 points, three rebounds and three assists. Kochuten was named the Class AA MVP. Sioux Falls Washington’s Grace Peterson posted 15 points and nine rebounds. Logan Smidt (Brookings) added 14 points, while Julie Eggert (O’Gorman) had nine points and six rebounds.

Class A MVP Sloane Keszler (St. Thomas More) recorded 13 points, six assists and three rebounds. Roncalli’s Ava Hanson posted 10 points and three rebounds. Krista Langager (Sisseton) had 11 points and six rebounds. Dakota Valley’s Cameryn Sommervold finished with nine points and seven rebounds. 

In Game 2, Kochuten recorded 19 points, three rebounds and two assists. Grace Peterson posted 12 points and seven rebounds. Eggert tallied eight points and 13 rebounds. Taaliyah Porter (Rapid City Stevens) posted 14 points, four rebounds and three assists. 

Porter also hit a go-ahead basket with six seconds left for the win.  

Class B MVP Kaylee Voelker (Colman-Egan) finished with 23 points and four rebounds. Centerville’s Emma Marshall posted 21 points and six rebounds. Sanborn Central/Woonsocket’s Alexa Goertz had 11 points, three rebounds and three assists.
