Class A Roundup - Dakota Valley surges past Hamlin for championship game berth

Dakota Valley 77, Hamlin 63

SIOUX FALLS — Three players scored in double figures as Dakota Valley erased a halftime deficit to pick up a semifinal win over Hamlin at the Class A state tournament.

Isaac Bruns led Dakota Valley with 27 points and 12 rebounds. Randy Rosenquist had a big night with 20 points, six rebounds, nine assists and four steals while Jaxson Wingert scored 18 points and corralled seven rebounds. 

Easton Neuendorf led Hamlin with 16 points and nine assists. Tyson Stevenson added 14 points for the Chargers. 


Sioux Valley 65, Hot Springs 52

SIOUX FALLS — A balanced scoring attack helped Sioux Valley earn a win over Hot Springs Friday in consolation action from the Class A state tournament. 

Alec Squires led Sioux Valley with 21 points, six rebounds and two blocks. Hudsyn Ruesink scored 11 points and grabbed nine rebounds while Patrick Carey chipped in with 11 points. Oliver Vincent added nine points, eight rebounds and seven assists. 

Matt Close led Hot Springs with 16 points, six rebounds and two steals. Camron Maciejewski added 15 points and seven rebounds while Preston Iverson scored nine points. 


St. Thomas More 65, Mount Vernon/Plankinton 57

SIOUX FALLS —- Caleb Hollenbeck and Lee Neugebauer combined to score 44 points as St. Thomas More earned a win over Mount Vernon/Plankinton in consolation action Friday at the Class A state tournament. 

Hollenbeck followed up Thursday’s 30-point outing with 28 points and 10 rebounds. Neugebauer added 16 points and three rebounds. Will Green chipped in with nine points and five rebounds. 

Reed Rus led MVP with 18 points, six rebounds and three assists. Jordan Stoltz finished with 17 points and six rebounds while Zach Baker scored 11 points for the Titans. 


Sioux Falls Christian 75, Elk Point-Jefferson 51

SIOUX FALLS — Four players scored in double figures as Sioux Falls Christian reached the Class A state championship with a win over Elk Point-Jefferson Friday. 

Ethan Bruns fueled the Chargers with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Britton Mulder added eight points, Cole Snyder finished with 11 points and Tayton Snyder chipped in with 10 points and six rebounds. 

Easton Kempf led Elk Point-Jefferson with 16 points and five rebounds. Garrett Merkley added 14 points for the Huskies.
