Class AA Girls Roundup - Sioux Falls O'Gorman avoids upset bid from Rapid City Stevens

Sioux Falls O’Gorman 64, Rapid City Stevens 58 (OT)

SIOUX FALLS — Mahli Abdouch and Lucy Moore combined to score 37 points as Class AA No. 1 seed O’Gorman survived an upset bid from Rapid City Stevens with a win Thursday in overtime. 

Moore paced the O’Gorman attack with 18 points, six rebounds, two assists, two steals and a blocked shot. Abdouch finished with 19 points and five steals. Sydney Terveen scored eight points and Aweng Akoi chipped in with five points. 

Isabell Higgins led Rapid City Stevens with 11 points and 14 rebounds. Taaliyah Porter and Finley Love each scored 11 points for the Raiders. 


Sioux Falls Jefferson 45, Pierre 41

SIOUX FALLS — A balanced scoring attack helped Sioux Falls Jefferson hold off Pierre in first round action from the Class AA state tournament. 

Freshman Brinley Altenburg paced the Jefferson scoring attack with 13 points. Aliyah McGovern-Harrington hit three 3-pointers, finishing with 12 points, three rebounds and two assists. Jaidyn Dunn and Aleah Johnson each had nine points for the Cavaliers. 

Reese Terwilliger paced Pierre with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Lennix DuPris added 16 points and five rebounds. Ryann Barry added five points, five rebounds and three assists for Pierre. 


Harrisburg 57, Mitchell 41

SIOUX FALLS — No. 7 Harrisburg knocked down ten 3-pointers on their way to an upset win over Mitchell on Thursday at the AA state girls basketball tournament. 

Senior Jaylee Hofer made six 3-pointers on her way to a game high 21 points. Abigail Flanigan scored 13 points to go along with two rebounds and two assists. Sadie Mehrman added nine points and five rebounds while Makinley Lawrenson chipped in with six points and four rebounds. 

Sawyer Stoebner led Mitchell with 20 points, four rebounds and four assists. Sophomore Addie Siemsen hit three 3-pointers and finished with 15 points and four rebounds.


Brandon Valley 58, Spearfish 42

SIOUX FALLS — A balanced scoring attack helped Brandon Valley run past Spearfish in the first round of the Class AA girls state basketball tournament Thursday. 

Sophomore Alyvia Padgett led the Lynx with 15 points, three rebounds and six assists. Kennedi Deckert added 10 points, four rebounds and five assists. Madison Geiver had nine points and nine rebounds while Ava Kellenberger and Amanda Lease each finished with six points. 

Jozie Dana paced Spearfish with 14 points and added three rebounds and three assists. Maria Bouman finished with eight points and Mya Kochuten had seven points off the bench.
