Class B Roundup - Aberdeen Christian clips White River in overtime thriller for third place

Aberdeen Christian 70, White River 65 (OT)

ABERDEEN — Three players scored in double figures as Aberdeen Christian claimed third place at the Class B state tournament Saturday with an overtime win over White River. 

Ethan Russell led Aberdeen Christian with 22 points and 12 rebounds. Malek Wieker made four 3-pointers and finished with 17 points and five assists while Jackson Isakson chipped in with 19 points. 

Joe Sayler wrapped up his White River career with 39 points and six rebounds. Sayler finished as the state’s fourth all-time leading scorer in South Dakota boys basketball history with 2,702 career points. Nicolas Marshall added 17 points, four rebounds and five assists. 


De Smet 62, Lower Brule 48

ABERDEEN — A balanced scoring attack helped De Smet win the Class B state championship Saturday with a win over Lower Brule. 

Damon Wilkinson wrapped up his De Smet career with 18 points and 20 rebounds. Kadyn Fast added 10 points, four rebounds and six assists. Kasen Janssen had nine points and nine rebounds while George Jensen had nine points and six rebounds. 

Brian LaRoche Jr. led Lower Brule with 16 points and four rebounds. Gavin Thigh added 15 points and five rebounds while Ellwyn Langdeau chipped in with 10 points and four rebounds. 



Castlewood 46, Viborg-Hurley 41

ABERDEEN — Castlewood clipped Viborg-Hurley for third place at the Class B boys basketball tournament on Saturday. 

Castlewood’s Lane Tvedt logged 15 points, four assists, four steals and three rebounds. Jamison Keszler added 12 points, while Quincy Thu and Joe Decker had six points apiece. Thu added seven rebounds. Bryon Laue logged four points and 10 rebounds. 

Viborg-Hurley’s Gage Goettertz and Nick Hanson scored 10 points apiece. Hanson added eight boards and six blocked shots. Brady Schroedermeier and Bryson Morrison scored seven points apiece. Kobee Sherman grabbed six boards. 


Faith 75, Ethan 56

ABERDEEN — Jackson Schauer and Caden Selby combined for 62 points and eight 3-pointers as Faith captured seventh place at the Class B boys basketball tournament on Saturday. 

Schauer tossed in 36 points and was 5 of 5 shooting 3-pointers. Selby added 26 points and hit three 3-pointers. Rylan Palmer had six points, six rebounds and six assists. Matthew Gray had six points, six rebounds and four assists. 

Ethan’s Kody Klumb had 20 points and six 3-pointers. Drake Gustafson recorded 11 points and four rebounds. Riley Endres had 10 points and nine rebounds. Logan Koch logged seven points.
