Class B Roundup - Aberdeen Christian holds off Ethan for semifinal berth

Aberdeen Christian 57, Ethan 47

ABERDEEN — Malek Wieker and Ethan Russell combined for 28 points and 11 rebounds as Aberdeen Christian held off Ethan on Thursday at the Class B state tournament. 

Wieker finished with 15 points and six rebounds, while Russell recorded 13 points and five rebounds. Joey Johnson added eight points and eight boards. Jackson Isakson logged seven points and nine rebounds. Kaden Clark had six points, four assists and four rebounds. Konnar Furman had five points. 

Ethan’s Riley Endres posted 16 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. Kody Klumb added 15 points and four rebounds. Drake Gustafson had 10 points and seven rebounds. Wyatt Sinkie collected nine rebounds. 


Lower Brule 67, Castlewood 55

ABERDEEN — Gavin Thigh and Brian LaRoche Jr. combined to score 49 points as Lower Brule earned a win over Castlewood on Thursday at the Class B state tournament.

Thigh knocked down six 3-pointers and finished with 34 points and three rebounds. LaRoche Jr. managed 15 points and three rebounds. Tayshan Battese scored five points and grabbed eight rebounds while Lane Gray chipped in with six points, five assists and three steals. 

Bryon Laue powered Castlewood with 25 points and 14 rebounds. Quincy Thu added 11 points and six rebounds while Lane Tvedt added eight points. 


White River 72, Faith 56

ABERDEEN — Three players scored in double figures as White River picked up a win over Faith on Thursday. 

Joe Sayler led White River with 24 points, six rebounds and three assists. Nicolas Marshall pumped in 21 points, grabbed five rebounds and dished out seven assists. Evastine Wright came off the bench to score 11 points and block two shots. 

Jackson Schauer and Caden Selby each scored 15 points to lead Faith. Rylan Palmer added 12 points for the Longhorns. 


De Smet 51, Viborg-Hurley 47

ABERDEEN — Three players scored in double figures as De Smet held off Viborg-Hurley on Thursday at the Class B state tournament. 

Damon Wilkinson led De Smet with 14 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks. Kadyn Fast added 14 points, two rebounds and two assists. Kasen Janssen scored 12 points with George Jensen chipping in with nine points. 

Nick Hanson led Viborg-Hurley with 16 points, seven rebounds and two assists. Kobee Sherman and Brady Schroedermeier each had 10 points for Viborg-Hurley.
