Dec. 13 Basketball Roundup - Sioux Falls Lincoln edges Harrisburg in boys action

Boys basketball

Sioux Falls Lincoln 68, Harrisburg 63

SIOUX FALLS — Class AA No. 2 Sioux Falls Lincoln held off Harrisburg for a boys basketball win on Tuesday. 

J.T. Rock led the Patriots with 20 points, 10 boards and seven blocked shots. Elliot Whitney tossed in 18 points and nailed three 3-pointers. Tate Schafer added 14 points, hit four 3-pointers and dished out four assists. Jack Hilgenberg logged 12 points and three steals. 

Harrisburg’s Ethan Determan logged 19 points and 10 rebounds. Maxwell Knutson added 17 points, eight rebounds and three 3-pointers. Braeden VanBockern scored eight points. Jacoby Mehrman and Parker Stansbury scored seven points apiece. Mehrman grabbed six rebounds and Stansbury had five boards. 

 

Dakota Valley 82, Beresford 44

NORTH SIOUX CITY — Class A No. 1 Dakota Valley raced past Beresford for a boys basketball win on Tuesday.

DV was led by Jaxson Wingert with 21 points and nine rebounds, while Isaac Bruns tallied 20 points, seven rebounds, and four assists. Jaxon Hennies recorded 10 points, while Randy Rosenquist had nine points, nine assists, and five steals. Luke Bruns had nine points, while Sam Faldmo added eight points and six rebounds.

Beresford stats were not reported.


Girls basketball

Scotland 47, Menno 33

SCOTLAND — Scotland pulled away from Menno for a girls basketball win on Tuesday.

Scotland was led by Martina DeBoer with 14 points, four rebounds, and two steals, while Jenna Vitek tallied 10 points, seven rebounds, and three steals. Bailey Vitek recorded nine points, eight steals, four rebounds, and three assists, while Claire Janiush and Trinity Bietz each had six points. Bietz added eight boards.

Menno’s Layne Schmidt led with nine points, while Ashton Massey tallied eight points and rebounds. Amanda Rames had six points and six rebounds, while Abby Bender had five points and four steals.

 

Beresford 47, Dakota Valley 40

NORTH SIOUX CITY — Beresford picked up a girls basketball win over Dakota Valley on Tuesday.

Beresford was led by Ella Merriman with 18 points, seven rebounds, four steals, and two assists, while Harley Koth had 13 points and seven rebounds. Irelyn Fichbohm added six steals.

DV was led by Cameryn Sommervold with 10 points and nine rebounds, while Addison Kleis had eight points. Jorja VanDenHul added seven points, eight rebounds, and five steals.

Harrisburg 54, Sioux Falls Lincoln 52

HARRISBURG — Harrisburg outlasted Sioux Falls Lincoln in Tuesday girls basketball action. 

Harrisburg’s Abby Flanagan finished with 16 points, while Jaylee Hofer added 15 points. Sadie Mehrman scored eight points.

Lincoln’s Addie Fawcett netted 16 points. Kierra Lubovich added 12 points.
